2010 Heisman Trophy Discussion

I don't see why this guy thinks it is such an open and shut case. Who the hell is Ted Miller anyways?

Would I be "ridiculous" to say that TP is just barely behind Moore in passing stats, but he has 350 yds rushing yards to go with them?

TP actually has more yards, a higher completion pctg., and more td's so even that's debatable.

You really think that if WVU runs the table they won't be top 5 and Devine won't get some Heisman love? Really?

Yes, I really think that. They will be the worst ranked 1 loss team and a 2 loss SEC team will be ahead of them as well.

OSU
Boise
TCU
Nebraska
Oregon
Oklahoma
Utah
Bama
Sparty
Stanford
FSU
LSU
Arkansas
LSU

Even if half these teams shit the bed, WVU would be ranked 7th or 8th at best. Plus he is on pace for 1100 yards and 10 TDs. In his marque match up for the year against LSU he had 37 rushing yards. He'll be lucky to get "love" for all confrence. He is 5th in rushing in the beig east, 300 yards behind the conference leader from UCONN.

How do you feel about the Mountain West? It's better than the Big East, and is at least equivalent to the ACC. Granted, that's in the pending expansion.

Not sure the conference is going to remain as constituted long enough to know one way or the other. Certainly a question up for debate. It is going to be very interesting to see what Utah does in the next few years. This will go a long way, rightly or wrongly, in shaping people's opinions of these "elites" of the mid-majors...

The problem I see with comparing the MWC with the Big East and ACC is that I still have a hard time calling the likes of Pitt, WVA, Fla. State, BC, and Miami, "mid-majors", even with the present state of affairs in mind, because there is a history there and there are the resources present to play big boy football year in and year out with the right people in charge. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with "newcomers". It is very possible that Boise State, TCU, Utah etc., are here to stay. I just don't believe that they can make those claims of having "arrived" until they do the things that the big boys do, week in and week out, year after year. A good bowl win every several years is ok, but conference play for the big boys has 3,4 even 5 games with competition comparable to a bowl match up every year. JMHO.

An emphatic Yes. Being the best smelling pile of [censored] in a group of piles of [censored] still amounts to being [censored].

My question wasn't rhetorical, but I want to clarify that I wasn't coming from the position that Boise State joining the MWC really changes things. Granted, it ties a few more of the BCS "Busters" together so that should help with removing some "punditry". The problem that Boise runs into is that they're a liability for any AQ conference academically. They're just never going to get into a BIG one unless something happens with the Mega-conferences.

He has been playing hurt, and a slow start will only get him more love if he blows up. Also as far as rankings go i think you are putting too much stock in to the lack of quality wins WVU would have if a team losses late they will drop you don't need a big win to move up.

While it is possible that WVU could end up in the Top 5 by year end if they go undefeated, it's to late. Noel Devine spent the first half of the season proving how his team could win without his being a force on the team.

they are very similar. i was actually surprised how well TP's passing stacks up nationally. he has a few more picks though, and that results in a slightly lower passer rating.

on a side note, if you want to talk about rushing stats check out cam newton! he has 9 td's and double pryor's rushing yards. his only weakness is his 5 interceptions. if they keep running the SEC, i expect him to start getting some serious consideration. the next two weeks will be huge for him (vs. arkansas and vs. LSU)

The problem with Kellen Moore's campaign is how many voters will stay up to watch him annihilate Idaho? Seriously, BSU's schedule is THAT bad the rest of the way, and won't be shocked one bit if Nevada is the only team on that schedule with fewer than four losses. OreST and VaTech are both heading into the teeth of conference play with two losses.

Nobody cares about wvu or the big east. The big east is an enormous joke...and he'll have to do considerably better than the 13-29 he did tonight for your prognostication to have a chance...he's not even the best player on his own team right now.
