2010 TSUN offseason arguments & shenanigans

It's amazing how Michigan let's the in state talent flock to other schools. Michigan isn't known as a football state, but the past few years there have been some damn good players come out of this state. Hey RR, how about you focus on Michigan first, then Ohio/Penn, and then Florida. It would be nice to get a decent player or two from the midwest.

:shake:
you can't revolutionize offense in the Big Ten with players from the midwest, haven't you learned anything over the past two years? just give it 3 or 4 more years for Rodriguez to get his southern speed!!!!1!! players in the system and then kapow!! revolution

Fify, which is apparently why Dorsey is going to revolutionize
their defense, not his ability.

72%

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP)?The University of Michigan has commitments for 72 percent of the suites and 77 percent of club seats that will make their Big House debut this fall........

Just saw this from Friday.

Maybe I notice because I loathe them but do we get AP articles giving us an attempt at positive spin when only 70 some odd percent of the boxes are being sold anywhere like OSU, PSU or Tenn?

Its a rhetorical question so I'll go ahead an answer it...no we do not. Why? Because those schools don't have any trouble selling their seats. I know the economy is extra fucked up there but then again everything is extra fucked up there so its not an excuse.

RR is like a one man four horsemen of the football program apocalypse; losing, sanctions, poor attendance, irrelevance.

God bless you Bill Martin you magnificent son of a bitch.

Now um fans with actual insight on braxton are scoffing at the deceptive word-smithing tom beaver is selling.

Check out packroad's two replies here:
Scout.com: Braxton Miller & Ashton Broyld

You can disagree if you want, but BM constantly talks smack about Michigan and hasn't had the nicest things to say about our coach. Now I do agree that nothing is 100% certain, but there are too many other factors besides his feelings about Michigan that would make it difficult to land him.

He wants to play early. I don't see that happening at Michigan. Bringing BM in would cause a logjam at the position. You have TF, DG, and BM all expecting to start....someone is transferring.

He wants to play for a powerhouse team. I'm sorry but Michigan isn't there yet.

He also has some of the same feelings as Pryor about being a quarterback. He wants to learn to be a pocket passer as well as using his mobility so he has a great chance of being in the NFL. I'm not saying Michigan is the wrong place for him, but our offense doesn't throw the football a ton and some of these kids still perceive RR's offense as being one dimensional.

Add to all that the fact that he hates Michigan and doesn't like our coach, I'm not really sure how we have any chance with this kid. As I've said, I'm merely speaking from the experiences I've had talking with Miller.

There is absolutely no chance of landing Miller. Braxton wears osu gear everywhere. His family is close with my family and he is one of the biggest osu fans out there. There is a very small chance that he doesn't go to osu, but there is pretty much zero chance that he comes here.

P.s. Anyone who knows depriest personally will also say that um trails by a mile and needs a great year just to be competitive in his recruitment. They'd laugh at the notion that um leads let alone would land him if today was signing day.

Beaver knows this and about Tanner, but he also knows how to speak vaguely, hint in both directions, then take credit for the scoop once one of his two predictions-in-one come true.

Braxton, trey, Tanner could all verbal to osu tomorrow, and he'd still claim he was right since he qualified his prediction by saying they'd get at least half of these guys. Meanwhile if they committed to um he'd also take credit. He's figured out a loophole like Todd Gack. He never has to risk being wrong if he never makes a prediction that isn't right for all outcomes.

Tom beaver is Todd gack without the looks, charm or height.

He's doing daily updates on their "projected class" now and they all include Braxton, Tanner and DePriest. What rational reason would Braxton have for going to scUM? I can't believe people actually pay money for his "insights" for anything other than comedy value.

A LOT of smoke that Michigan will be adjusting their defensive style this year.

MGoBlow

And respected Toledo area coach (and traitor :wink2:) coachBT:
I doubt Coach Rich Rod would go to the Va Tech 4-2/4-4 8 man front as the base. When he started at West Virginia Coach Elmassion was the DC, and he used the VA Tech 8 man front. Will Um use some 4-2-5, I would be suprised if they did not. I fully expect UM to use multipe fronts including the 4-2 front. But if you look at type of athletes UM has recruited the lst 3 years it is fairly obvious UM/Coach Rich Rod is heading towards a 3-3 odd stackas its base front. All the safeties/OLbers hybreds and lack of pure Lber types, except Ryan. All the tweener D Linemen we have problems fitting into 4-3 positions. I would be suprised if UM does not play 3-3 as its base thisn season.

Last years defense was basically a 4-3 under tackle defense. I expect UM to try and mix fronts a lot more this season. I like that. I like that UM is finely getting quicker and more athletic at Lbers and safeties. My biggest concern is same as last season, size and depth. I am also concerned about front 3 or 4s ability to generate a pass rush. other than Roh, UM does not have a true edge rusher, and that will put a lot of pressure on marin and Campbell inside.

My initial impression is that this is a good idea insofar as their current talent level. Mike Martin is really the only guy that fits a 4 down linemen base scheme. Will Campbell should be an OG.

But it still doesn't address their biggest issue- a complete lack of fundamentals. I know they went to that 1 gap, attack style defense, but they have shown a terrible lack of discipline, tackling ability, and coverage awareness (their safeties get caught by play-action easily) the past two years.

RR can try moving to a new defensive scheme every year, but the biggest thing hurting them is coaching.

Much has been made of this being their first year with some stability at DC in a while. Well, changing defensive style again can throw a huge wrench in that. If this is true, it's like starting over again. Then again, there may be a ton of new/young folks in the rotation this year, so they're essentially starting over anyway.

when packard is over there telling them pro-OSU things and they're still believing that Miller might somehow commit to them.........those people are way past delusional.

8-16 (3-13)...I guess you gotta cling to something. :slappy:

I actually asked for his rationale behind Miller signing with um in the latest thread. He, of course, skipped my post and answered a fluff question directly below mine. 50.1% chance he never answers. .
