Assistant to the Head Coach
So to go along with the news of the Jackets moving Voracek and their first and third round picks for Jeff Carter, the Flyers also traded Mike Richards to LA for Wayne Simmonds, Brayden Schenn and a 2nd rounder

The Flyers were in the finals in 2010 and they've traded two of their best players. lol

Trading Carter AND Richards to fit Bryzgalov in = stupid. We'll see.

I guess the Leafs are going to move Nazem Kadri or Luke Schenn tomorrow for a #1 center. I'm going to guess Stastny.. don't really know who else it would be to be honest.

And I also just realized that the Kings will have Mike Richards and Anze Kopitar.. they'll be tough with those two and that group of d-men.

Glad to see the Thrashers cleared to move to Winnepeg...should be a rabid fan base there now.

If we could only get a team back in Hartford now...

Methinks Florida might be moving within 5 years if their rebranding effort doesn't work...but it probably won't be Hartford....Maybe KC though....

Bump for playoff races. Current Standings.

The East has essentially three teams battling for one spot. Winnipeg (11 games left) & Buffalo (10 games left) are only two points out of the 8th and final playoff spot currently occupied by Washington (11 games left & currently trailing Chicago 2-0 in the 1st period). Toronto (10 games left) are six points out, but have been awful since the all-star break and really don't look they're going to contend for 8th place. They're without there 2nd leading scorer Joffrey Lupul (67 pts, 25 Goals & 45 Assists in 66 Games) who seperated his shoulder last week & is out for the remainder of the regular season.

The West is much more open with six teams battling for three playoff spots. Third place Dallas (10 games left) is only one point ahead of 8th place San Jose (11 games left) & Los Angeles (10 games left) in the Pacific Division, with Phoenix (10 games left) only two points back. Colorado (8 games left) is currently in 7th place but could really be in trouble with two teams only a point back with 2 & 3 games in hand. Calgary (10 games left) sit only two points back of 8th place. This race for 3rd(Pacific Division winner), 7th and 8th places will definitely come down to the wire with six teams battling for them. Should be a very entertaining finish to the regular season.

Three teams in the East are battling for the final two playoff spots. Ottawa (7th place) is up two points on Buffalo (8th place) and four points up on Washington with all three teams having five games remaining.

The West is much more closer with essentially six teams battling it out for the final three playoff spots. Dallas (3rd place) has only a one point advantage over San Jose (8th place) & Los Angeles (7th place) and two points over Phoenix in the battle for the Pacific Division with all teams having five games remaining. Colorado is only two points out of 8th place, but with only three games there chances are looking very long. Calgary, who is three points out of the final playoff spot are in the same boat with only four games left.

Current Standings

With every team having one game left in the regular season, the playoff spots are all but set. The 16 teams who are making the playoffs have all clinched berths. Some final regular season games to watch tomorrow:

Chicago @ Detroit 1pm NBC. Detroit can move back into 4th place with a win & Nashville loss to get home ice advantage in the first round. They could also fall to 6th place if they fail to get at least a point. Chicago will move into 5th place to face Nashville in the first round if they beat Detroit in regulation.

Philadelphia @ Pittsburgh 4pm NBC Sports Network. Going to be quite the first round matchup with all the history of hatred between these two teams. Nothing like a pre-playoff slugfest before the games really matter.

Washington @ New York Rangers 6:30 pm NBC Sports Network. Another possible 1st round matchup barring a Rangers victory. If Washington win & Florida lose, the Caps will win the Southeast division & clinch the #3 seed, facing New Jersey in the first round with home ice advantage.

Los Angeles @ San Jose 10:30 pm NBC Sports Network. Both teams currently sit in 7th & 8th place respectively just one point back of Phoenix for the Pacific division lead. Barring a Phoenix loss at Minnesota earlier that night, the winner of this game will win the Pacific division & clinch the #3 seed, facing either Chicago or Detroit in the first round with home ice advantage. Barring a Phoenix win, the winner of this game will clinch the #7 seed and face St. Louis in the first round & the loser will finish in 8th place and face Vancouver in the first round.
