2011 SEC Football Discussion

That would be the best possible choice for Mississippi, but I don't see it happening.

Nutt has left a smoking crater where the Ole Miss football program once was, and surely Leach is too smart to step into that burning [Mark May] pile.

The other question is if Houston Nutt will get another coaching gig or is he done?
Charlie Strong would be a good choice...and remove some of the the last Col. Reb-ness from the joint. So that will not f-ing happen.

So if Arky beats LSU, and Oklahoma State and Stanford (even Boise) stay undefeated, does the SEC Champ still get a spot in the title game? Obvious answer is no, but I could see it happening...

By the way, last two teams OSU has played in the bowl game has gone on to the title game the next year. Arkansas still has a shot this year...

If ESPN has anything to say, the SEC could have a 4-loss champion and they'd still be in the BCS national championship game.

ESPN aside, if LSU loses to Arkansas, I don't see them dropping out of the top 5 in the BCS standings. Arkansas might find a way to jump ahead of LSU, but I don't see them jumping Alabama. So... if all three teams have 1 loss, each beating the next (or the one before it, depending on how you look at it), I'd guess that Alabama would get the SEC championship game. If they win that game, they're in the BCS championship game. If they lose, well, I don't see any SEC team getting in.

And the two teams before that WERE the national championship games. Nice - the last 4 teams Ohio State played in bowl games (prior to Arkansas, which magically never even happened) were within 1 year of making it to the national championship game.

Yeah - Arkansas has a shot, but I think they need a lot of 2007 to happen. A lot of teams ahead of them need to lose.

Las Vegas says - barring all injuries and if both teams win out, LSU is a 10.5 favorite over my Dawgs in the SECCG

That would be a tough one to bet in my opinion. Georgia playing w/ nothing to lose and LSU having a berth to the MNC on the line. A "hot" Murray could give the LSU defense all they wanted.

I haven't watched much of Georgia this year, but I've heard good things about their defense. Do you think it would match up well w/ stopping the LSU running game?

I think it would match up well...for the first half. After that I am not sure they could keep it going. I will definitely be pulling for the Dawgs if that game comes to fruition.

Probably for about 2 to 3 quarters. Key would be for Aaron's ability to convert 3rd downs and let the defense catch their wind.

If it's a battle of the punters, LSU wears us down and we probably lose by 13-20.
