2012-13 Big Ten Basketball

Nebraska beats Minnesota:lol: I think that Tubby is not the coach that everyone thinks he is because the talent on this team is not that bad but I also think that he has lost control over his players.

With regard to the Purdue/sCum game Purdue turned the ball over on its last possession with a chance to tie. I don't know if that's good or bad either.

Wisconsin looked terrible against Sparty and it was not because the boys from East Lansing played that great. Ryan's offense is just baaaddd. I seriously don't know how he wins as many games as he does with that offense because once they fall behind they are dead meat which was proven last night.

Also, why don't they shoot the ball against Ohio State like they shot against MSU... that would be helpful

There is nothing wrong with the offense, just the way they run it. Too often they resort to heave and pray when they are outmatched inside like they were last night. Couple that with a fragile team psyche and you have a recipe for disaster.

Like usual, they'll go as far as their shooting takes them. Which won't be far if they shoot 29.4% from the field and 17.4% from behind the arc like they did last night.

John Gasaway ‏@JohnGasaway Last night: Wisconsin's worst offense (0.69 PPP) in B1G play in 7+ years (long as I've tracked).

Jim Polzin ‏@JimPolzinWSJ Missed 35 of 37 at one point. RT @TomOatesWSJ #Badgers have made 4 of their last 40 3s. Not good for a team that lives and dies by the 3.

I love it when Wisky gets down about 8 points with a couple of minutes to go - then runs the clock out on themselves.

Bo Ryan is in danger of having his top-4 finish streak snapped. UW will finish 5th even if they win if the following 3 things happen: UM beats IU, OSU beats IL and MSU beats NW. Lots on the line for Wisconsin fans this weekend.

From looking at the chart at the top of the page IU gets the 1 seed regardless and OSU gets the 2 seed as long as we win Sunday.

Yeah, I wasn't talking about seeding in the B1G tourney, I was talking about how Wisconsin fans like to puff out their chests and trot out the "Bo hasn't finished lower than 4th" factoid every year to assert their supremacy. Seeding in the Big Ten tourney is irrelevant to that - it's all about how they finish in the conference standings, and right now UW is in 5th place, a game behind OSU, UM and MSU - even if they win their last game they might not get to 4th.

Isn't the fact that they have to boast about regular season conference standings that place #2, #3, or #4 a sad enough statement about Wisconsin basketball in and of itself?

If anyone watched the "Inside Selection" show on BTN Monday, Jerry Palm had Ohio State as a No. 7 seed. Called Ohio State "Homecourt Heroes".

But if you look at the Bracket Project's Matrix, Palm is the outlier, since most everyone else had OSU a 4 or 5.

http://bracketproject.50webs.com/matrix.htm

The BTN show was actually informative.

Look at that matrix closely - a lot of people have Ohio State as a 3 seed - more than those that have them at 5 or below....

That is right and what is especially noteworthy is the people who have not upgraded their predictions since the w over Indiana on 3/5 drag down OSU in the overall seedings, i.e. 8 (#5 seeds) and a #6.
Whereas the bracket predictions upgraded between 3/6 -3/8 give tOSU 17 (#3 seeds) and even a 2.
tOSU could potentially get bumped passed Marquette and K State to a #3 seed projection when all the people update their seedings.

If Minnesota isn't playing their way out of the tournament, the Gophers are certainly playing their way onto the Bubble.

Down to Purdue at half.

Minny is safe.

Look at the bubble this year, it's soft as all hell, Minny has a few quality wins that mean a lot more.

The team that should be kicking itself is Iowa.
