2012 Out-of-state players to watch

Top ranked cb, yuri wright expelled from HS over tweets:

Some-most teenagers just aren't mature enough to tweet and have everything they say scrutinized. ScUM already rescinded their schollie, and more could follow. Something needs to be done about social networking soon, because events like these may become reoccurring.

I disagree. Give them enough rope ahead of time so you can identify them before they get on campus.

I have to totally agree with you. I mean it's not like this kid was some also ran..He's a top recruit..top recruits go to big schools with a desire to get to the pro's..you need to be a little smarter than that IMO. What's next some guy going to break into a house and log on to facebook?

Not sure the kid should have been expelled over the tweets, but Michigan was definitely correct in dropping the kid. I'll give credit where credit is due for Flintstone dropping the kid. Props to the Michigan alum too for making his school aware of the trouble they were walking into.

It will be interesting to see what school/coach picks him up. Very interesting.

It will be very interesting to see who gets him. Because at the end of the day he's still a top rate talent.
and I guess experience is a great teacher. I have to agree with that. Just sucks that he had to be expelled in his senior year though

Rivals $ - Phillips earns early offers

9/22

By Hare...verbal offers from schools such as Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky and Purdue...says he is getting a lot of interest from Ohio State...visited UF for the Miami (OH) game and might visit again this weekend.

Pipe dream, IMO...but worth a shot.

Maybe not "worth a shot" (i.e. probably couldn't get accepted here either)....

Gators recruit denied admission to UF

With the arrival of Florida's "Summer B" session Monday, the Gators are awaiting the arrival of three recruits. At least one might not make it on to the team. Venice DT Dante Phillips has been cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse but denied admission by UF. John Peacock, Phillips' high school coach, said that decision is being appealed this week. Peacock had not spoke with UF officials, but said, "I just think it was overall what was on his transcript. He had a lot of classes he had to make up through virtual school." A 6-foot-6, 265-pound tackle, Phillips chose Florida over Miami, USF and LSU. Peacock said Phillips would wait for the result of his appeal before looking elsewhere. He ranked 120th overall in Rivals.com's final 2012 class rankings.
