Free Scout - Midwest: Scout 300 Changes

CHANGE AT THE TOP

There is a new number one player in the Midwest as Cincinnati Taft defensive end Adolphus Washington now takes over the top spot after putting together an excellent senior season in which he recorded 33 sacks. It isn?t just about sacks though, Washington's dominance on the high school level and the athleticism he shows at his size makes him a candidate to play early in college, and has us believing that he is a difference maker. Previous top Midwesterner Gunner Kiel slides to number two, but the move was more about Washington's strong showings than it was about Kiel. A quarterback from Columbus East (Ind.), will remain the nation's top signal caller, and he has lead his Olympians deep into the playoffs. We feel that very little separates these two players, but Washington's upside is tremendous.

MOVED IN - New 4-Stars
A.J. Williams - OT - Cincinnati Sycamore (Ohio) (#236)
Najee Murray - CB - Steubenville (Ohio) (#269)
Jamal Lyles - OLB - Southfield-Lathrup (Mich.) (#284)

Murray, an Ohio State pledge, has been steadily rising since we saw him last season and at camps this summer. He's a great athlete that can play cornerback and safety, as well as return kicks, and he came up huge during his team's playoff run, showing that he can run, cover, and lay big hits in run support.

MOVED OUT
Dwayne Stanford - WR - Cincinnati Taft (Ohio)
Kaleb Ringer - MLB - Clayton Northmont (Ohio)
Greg McMullen - DE - Akron Hoban (Ohio)

Stanford was arguably the toughest to move out. He has had a good season, but saw others move above him. He has great ability to go up and get the ball, but we see him as more of a possession guy at the next level that may struggle to create consistent separation.

Also, Josh Perry goes from 217 to 111.

Free Rivals - Seven reach five-star status in new Rivals100

Unfortunately Kalis is one of them.

Free Rivals - Roundtable: Toughest decision in Rivals100

Josh Helmholdt: The toughest decision for me was leaving Centerville (Ohio) defensive end Ifeadi Odenigbo out of the top 100 after he had been in there since the beginning. I saw Odenigbo this fall and thought he played well, just did not feel it was accurate to have him ahead of Adolphus Washington and Se'Von Pittman in the state of Ohio defensive end rankings.

Free Rivals - Rivals100: Breaking down the big moves

On the defensive side of things, defensive ends Adolphus Washington from Cincinnati (Ohio) Taft and Eli Harold from Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes made nice jumps inside the 100.

"You want to see big time prospects dominate on the field, and no one I saw this fall was as dominant for his team as Washington," said Helmholdt of the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Ohio State commitment who checks in at No. 36 overall. "His 25 sacks on the season only begin to describe the impact he has on a game. The scary thing about Washington is that he is only just now starting to tap into his potential. He is also the best power forward in the state of Ohio and plays basketball from November to July. When Washington can dedicate himself to football year-round, his game is going to really take off."

JaQuay Williams and Aaron Burbridge got bumps.

And here are the rankings...not worth posting names as the list of OSU targets is fluid.

I wonder if Rivals will ever come around to giving Murray another star or 2? If not, then people will again be talking about how Ohio State took a low-level 2 or 3 star recruit from Steubenville and turned him into a stud. If I had to compare Najee to a player that is currently playing...Tyrann Mathieu

Also, Riquan isn't even ranked through Rivals.... what does everyone think his initial rank will be. With Urban coming in him switching so close to the arrival of Urban... I think Rivals will look at it as Riquan must be a star if he was the first Urban was to pull away from the south... therefore, I'm thinking 4 star.

Najee got his 4th star recently. And Riquan is most likely going to end up a 3 star.. He has nice size and speed, but consistent production hasnt been there because he was playing behind 4 D1 WR's..so he could really be a weapon for us.

Oh maybe I saw it wrong.... I though Rivals had him at 2 star still.

Just in case anyone was wondering who those players were like I was...

Benjamin McRoy 3 Stars Committed to Texas Tech
Jarred Haggins 3 Stars Committed to Florida State
Javares McRoy 4 Stars Committed to Florida
Theodore Wright No Rank but Committed to UAB

That's a pretty good crop and definitely can show you why Southward has been late to the recruiting scene. His offers speak volumes for his talent though, obviously.

There only moving him up to 3?

Lets not put too much stock into stars. Especially since Travis Howard, Brad Roby, Dominic Clark, Tyler moeller were all former 3 stars. I rather him be a 3 star and fly under the radar and we unleash him on the big 10 for the next 3-4 years

Not a knock on Murray but that is where I would likely have him. He looks a little stiff in coverage and doesn't look incredibly quick in space. I know he absolutely blows people up and personally, I like him at the Star if we keep that formation, but I wouldn't quite give him a 4th star unless I saw more coverage. JMO. Don't get me wrong though, I think Murray can be a stud and his highlight film is fun to watch.
