Looks like Jay Minton, his HS coach in the background.

or did Rod Smith just hit the truck stick on John Simon?

A bit off topic, but I'd really like to see Nathan Williams, Steve Miller, or Noah Spence make a move at LEO and allow Simon to put his hand back in the dirt (I realize that two of those players aren't participating this spring, which I hope is the primary reason Simon is still at LEO in the first place).

Simon is out of his element when he drops back and spies as the LEO, in my opinion. He needs to be attacking the line of scrimmage on every play.

I agree with you, and I do think that is the plan. Right now, Simon is the best option at LEO with Miller being the only other possible option there. When Williams comes back for camp and Spence comes in, I think you'll see Simon move over to the 5-tech opposite the LEO.

Not to nitpick, but it looks like he fumbled while hitting the truck stick, doesn't it?

I didn't notice that but it looks like you are right.

I still stand by the point that John Simon is better utilized at the line of scrimmage where he can cause even more fumbles.

J.T. Moore, but he got a chance on the field last season and the results seem to speak for themselves.

He will need to improve dramatically to make an impact, but he is still an option I would say- at least in the spring.
