Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

Can we play 16 when we do the @Hawaii thing (2016 I think) ??

Nope. The Hawaii game is at home, this upcoming season. I believe the "Hawaii exemption" was for teams that had to travel to Hawaii.

Quick, someone call Gene to have him schedule a home and an away game scheduled with Hawaii for 2015. There's no rule that you can't play them twice in the same year.

Consistency does not a dynasty make. Winning multiple championships in close proximity makes a dynasty. Two titles in twelve years is nice, but it ain't no dynasty.

Minnesota (1934, 1935, 1936, 1940, 1941)
Notre Dame (1943, 1946, 1947, 1949)
Miami (1983, 1987, 1989, 1991)
Oklahoma (1950, 1955, 1956)
Nebraska (1994, 1995, 1997)
Alabama (2009, 2011, 2012)

I think that the current Buckeyes can be a dynasty going forward, because they have the talent and the coaching to win multiple national championships. But creating a true dynasty isn't easy, and that's why it's happened only a few times in college football.

Interesting Oklahoma's 47 game winning streak started in 1953, so who won the NC in 1954 when they were undefeated? ok, you guys already know as it was shared by Ohio State 10-0 and UCLA 9-0.

I'd be very surprised if the Buckeyes go 15-0 this year and equally surprised if they keep their B1G streak going. It's just very hard to get motivated for every game, especially when you won the NC the previous year. Like I mentioned in another thread, Urban Meyer's 2007 team between the 2006 and 2008 NC's were 9-4. The SEC was and still is the best conference imo.

And having watched Ohio State over the past (46) years, they have to be at the top of the list under performing in big games. Especially games they were/are favored to win. Of course, they never had a coach like Meyer leading the way before.

Again, this is why the 2014 NC is soooo nice as it was totally unexpected. Rising from the ashes after the VT game.

I'd be surprised as well seeing that in the 50's I believe the average season schedule was between 8-10 games. Its difficult to have a grind that is essentially, as long as an NFL season.

Depends on the team mentality. If somebody told me any team I could play on had the ability to go back to back and possibly be an all time great, I'd line up against every opponent looking like Bobby Boucher.

Had a lot to do with that 2007 team being nothing but true freshman and sophomores.
