Underdog Ohio State the favorite of coaches

One coach, I recall, was adamant that the Buckeyes would be fine, with or without their playmaking quarterback.

So I asked him this week why he was so sure. His answer was pretty succinct.

“They’re loaded,” he said. “They’ve got great players at every position.”

For that reason, a lot of coaches now reject the idea that Ohio State is “a year ahead of schedule.” Other than the quarterback mystery, there was always enough talent for this to be a playoff-type team. It’s not flooring that OSU is here, with the way Urban Meyer has recruited since arriving.

“Oregon is the faster team,” one coach said. “Ohio State is the more talented team.”

In fact, most coaches I talked with hinted they were leaning toward the underdog Buckeyes.

After watching the 2015 Rose Bowl (again) it seems pretty clear OSU can have success running on the edge- Oregon's run D is based entirely around blitzing to control running lanes... which is pretty hard to do on the edge.

Like the Oregon offense, it's pretty gimmicky and succeptible to being punched right in the mouth.

FSU was crushing Oregon on the ground in the first half (with RBs not nearly as good as EzE) before they literally fumbled the game away.

I watched the Oregon game with the seminoles and i saw speed everywhere, on both teams. Just don't know where to pinpoint a reason for victory for Ohio State just yet. Oregon's is so fast out of the gate. I have a feeling this game will go down to the wire, in the end,
