Michigan football wants to be like Mike; First college football team to wear Nike’s Jordan brand

When Michigan signed a new apparel deal with Nike, it came with quite the financial incentive attached to it. We now understand why. Michigan football will be the first college football program to wear the signature Jumpman logo on the football field starting in 2016. In the uniform apparel world, this is quite a milestone for Nike’s Jordan Brand.

Michigan’s deal with Nike is worth a reported $169 million over 11 years, which averages out to just over $15.3 million per year. The nitty gritty of the financial deal is something we previously touched on, noting Michigan’s deal is the richest apparel contract in college sports among public institutions. Michigan will play one final season wearing uniforms provided by Adidas. The contract with Nike will begin with the next academic year in 2016

Michigan has one more year wearing uniforms supplied by Adidas, but it looks as though the soon-to-be-former apparel company will do Michigan well with a throwback look this season. According to one report out of Ann Arbor, the Wolverines will wear an all-white uniform combo when they are on the road this season, a nod to the 1974 season.

It boggles the mind that anyone even considers NCs before 1906 valid w/o the forward pass.
There's ample reasons to put that date even farther back with all the shenanigans playing HS teams, back-dating NCs 60 years (PD, CFRA, HAF) to 110 years (NCF) ... none of the pollsters would've been old enough to critically evaluate the teams, let alone unbiased, etc.

BTW, fun fact... Princeton has just as many NCs as Michigan in the last 65 years.
MSU and Maryland have more... I'm sure there's a few other "lol" teams that got a couple NCs when you go back far enough.
But Michigan could only get 1 (half)
