2017-2018 Ohio State Men's Basketball (24-7, 15-3, #2 Seed in B1G Tourney)

It looks like 2015 classes did not meet expectations for the top two sports. The difference being Urban had his lowest ranked class over his stretch sandwiched between monster classes. Thad had his highest ranked class in awhile mixed between a turd sandwich and a giant douche.

How often does one recruiting class absolutely sink a program and torpedo a once beloved coach? Because, holy cow, that class was an ICBM right to the heart of this program.

We might legit be the worst team in the B1G next year.

As to the first point, I have never seen anything like it...that class was gone quicker than any I have seen and we just couldn't recover. As to the second part, I already said that before Thompson left and Lyle got booted. Now I am thinking it is about a certainty, not even sure how this is going to be watchable.

I guess the upside is the new coach will have a TON of open scholarships to rebuild with his own players. And he won't have to deal with the probation/postseason ban Thad did. So we have that going for us, which is nice.

The bad news is the guy who SHOULD be coaching the Buckeyes is now in Bloomington. So that pretty much sucks balls.

And that is the most infuriating part...it was the most blatantly obvious move and Gene completely dicked it up.

One might argue that was class was the the last of volley of ICBMs with the original one launched in the Amir Williams class..

I'm not too pessimistic just yet. The loss of Thompson was bad, the loss of Lyle...could be a blessing. We are probably pretty attractive now to Daniels or Cam Johnston, with lots of shots available. If we get solid PG play out of Jackson and Beverly, there is enough fire-power in Tate and KBD to actually make some noise. I'm not sure I could watch another season of Lyle's decisions anyways. I agree, however, that the odds of Thad surviving this dumpster fire are considerably low.

I've said this before though - in recent memory, name one player who has made strides and developed under this regime? I like Tate, I like KBD, but KBD is no where near the most talented player in the B1G. He has oodles of potential but as mentioned earlier, we don't develop players.

I guess at this point we can somehow hope Chris Mack wants a new challenge.
