2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

Gotcha...

But, like I pointed out, wouldn't it be better to hope OU gets in? With a second loss, we'd be competing with them... They win the HTH. No fucking way they put TCU in even with a Championship. Sorry, Christians. Not this year. I think they may take a 2 loss non champ OU. Sorry, Iowa State and TCU losses are better than Iowa and...them.

Not to mention, having lost to #2-4 wouldn't look as bad. If OU gets only 1 more loss, our losses only look worse and they take ND. If OU loses to WVU AND TCU then great. Otherwise, I think it's best to just let the Big 12 do their thing.

I don't think we can compete against a 2 loss Clemson-- even without a championship. People see 2 losses. The committee sees 1.

EDIT:

Also, I like the idea of having a second crack at both OU and Clemson.
If OK has 2 losses and no conference championship, I think an argument could be made to take a 2 loss Ohio State with a conference championship over them. Conversely, I could see the committee not wanting to set a rematch of a game that we lost, at home, by two touchdowns.

It would come down to a 2 loss Ohio State and a 2 Loss TCU/Okie State

No way would they put OU in over Ohio State and the champion of their own conference.

Fuck it.

Move all conferences to 16 teams and have a 6 team playoff. The Power 5 become the Power 4 and 2 At Large teams. Win your conference, stop playing teams in DIV IAA and put it on the field.

Put ND in a conference and we are pretty much there with the P5

Take the top 8 and give home field advantage, just stay away from the auto bids

Re: expansion ~ whatever the market allows IOW follow the $$$. Re: format ~ if it gets the Buckeyes a home game against 'bama/Clemson/Southern Cal/Miami, etc. late Dec./early January bring it on!

And then have either the semi's or final at Lucas Oil Stadium. :yay2: Love it when a plan comes together.

not sure, but I think they have a contract with the ACC to at least have a minimum of a certain amount of games each year vs. ACC opponents (in football only)

ND is in the ACC conference re: basketball. Probably been mentioned many times the past couple years, if ND keeps losing out on the football playoffs mainly because they're not in a conference, they probably will succumb to reality. Notre Dame's greed !!! notwithstanding.

This year, having been blown out by the U, they basically have already played the ACC conference championship game and lost quite decisively !!! And having also played Georgia ditto re: the SEC championship game.

I agree. If we're going to have conference championship games then make them mean more than just another check for the conference.

Play THE GAME in week ten. Also, both teams schedule their byes in week 9. Fans get 2 weeks of build up and everything is still on the line.

With all due respect, I like how things are now. What you describe sounds like tantric-premature ejaculation.

I'm sure as hell not doing it, but I'd be interested to see how many power 5 champions (which I guess wouldn't go that far back since it's from the disbandment of the Big East) wouldn't be in the top 8 of the final CFP/BCS rankings. I'm guessing very few and for every champion just on the cusp of being in there is a team totally undeserving. Maybe I'm wrong though.
