Game Thread 2017 Cotton Bowl: OSU vs. USC - 12/29/17 @ 8:30 ET (ESPN)

Lambeau or Soldier Field would be great venues for the Big 10 title game.

Great venues, potentially terrible playing conditions.

As long as Urban is the head coach stockpiling 100m all-state HS sprinters, playing in a dome 3-hours from Columbus will favor Ohio State over every B1G West team every single year.

Yeah, yeah, yeah - it could snow. I remember more than a few sunbelt games played in torrential rain and a World Series stopped by an earthquake. Weather happens everywhere. If the NFL can figure out how to play outdoors in Northern climes in January so can colleges.

Being as far away from USC's band as possible is a positive.

Gotta agree with this. I was at the '75 Rose Bowl and my seat was 2 rows behind the USC band. Their band would turn around and play facing the crowd, and the trombone slide was within my reach without standing up, and having that same song blared right in my face all game long was miserable. The memory got worse when Shelton Diggs dove and caught the 2-point conversion that made the final score USC 18 tOSU 17 after Pat Haden had hit J.K. McKay on a bomb in the last 2 minutes. The winner of that Rose Bowl was voted Coaches #1 after Bama lost that night.

Per ticket broker interviewed by local NBC-4, demand for this appears to be lower than any bowl game in recent OSU history. Reasons were: recent USC series, consolation prize after being snubbed by playoff, and fans were already invested in Dallas trip for TCU game next September 15.

If you're not a frequent bowl traveler you may be able to enjoy this one on the cheap (comparatively). If you're local to the DFW metro, you got no excuse to ignore the walk-up ticket sale.
