2019-2020 B1G Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

I can't believe those dopes gave Tom Crean 10 years.

Yeah, maybe a crappy "ball boy" was his problem.....

Seth Davis thinks Purdue is going to make the tournament ???????????????????

Does he know they are 16-15. No team in the history of the tournament has got an at large bid with 16 losses which is exactly what Purdue will have if they lose in the Big Ten tournament. If they don't lose they get the auto bid if they lose they have 16 losses and pretty sure if they lose their 1st or 2nd game they are not getting in at 16-16 or 17-16.

Not only has no team with 16 losses ever got in no team that has been less than 2 games under .500 has got in. 16-14 was the worst record ever to get at large.

So can someone pass me what Seth Davis is smoking. Now if Purdue wins their first 2 games and goes 18-16 then we have a possible bid.

We are the team that plays Purdue I think if we lose to MSU.

Let's face it, the reality is that Indiana hasn't had a good basketball coach since this guy:

giphy.gif

Bob Knight (1971 - 2000) 662-236 .735 and 3 National Championships

Mike Davis (2000-2006) 115-79 .592

Kelvin Sampson (2005-2008) 43-15 .741 and on February 22, 2008, Sampson was forced to resign due to NCAA violations.

Dan Dakich (2008) 3-4 .429

Tom Crean (2008 - 2017) 166 - 135 .552

Archie Miller (2017 - present) 54-43 .556
Sampson is a terrific coach, he just has no ethics.

From what I read on BTT scenarios by Matt Hackman, OSU has a chance at finishing ahead of the #7 seed even with a loss tomorrow if either UM or Iowa win their final regular season game. There are only a couple of scenarios that OSU can even get #7 now.

Only 2 of the 16 possibilities put Ohio State as the #7 seed but that is the most likely thing to happen.

Michigan State, Maryland and Illinois are all the favorites. Also if we are the #7 seed that means Michigan State will be the #2 seed. That isn't ideal.

I don't understand being overly concerned about a 5th to 7th seed in the B1G tournament. Really don't get it. Again, anyone not playing NEB or NW is going to be playing a tough/hungry opponent.

The BTT results rarely have a big impact on seeding. But to whatever extent they do, it really doesn't matter that much because the Dance is going to be a free-for-all this season and as far as OSU is concerned our path is going to be challenging for us no matter what. But a much bigger factor than the seeding of our opponents in the Dance will be how we match up with them. We could easily get a 12 seed opponent who is a worse match-up for us than an 11 or 10 seed, etc...

What matters is that we get to be in the mix and fight until the finish, one game at a time.
