2020-2021 College Basketball Discussion (Official Thread)

Teams will descend upon Indianapolis soon, and when they arrive they'll be greeted by packages that are a bit like what bowl games give players in college football. The players have certainly earned it after a long, arduous season amid COVID-19.

Here's a look at the package each player will receive, via CBS Sports' Matt Norlander.

Not bad. The book on former Georgetown coach John Thompson is a particularly nice touch, because players, coaches and other staffers won't have much to do when they're effectively isolated in their hotels.

College basketball needs to go to the NBA 3 point line. The court needs more space and less congestion. Everybody already shoots 3 feet behind the line already. They also need to go the Elam ending and change the foul/free throw set up. There's too many games where a team is on the bonus with 10 minutes left.

Hero ball 3 down by 1

0:08 LSU Timeout
0:04 Trendon Watford missed Three Point Jumper.
0:04 Aundre Hyatt Offensive Rebound.
0:01 Aundre Hyatt missed Layup.
0:01 Darius Days Offensive Rebound.
0:00 End of Game

Might not have been the specific play that was called; however, the inbounds pass was almost over and back, and the clock was ticking down. Watford is LSU's "go to guy" and putting it up at :04 gives LSU a second chance tip in opportunity if he misses (which they missed too):

I think that's a pretty good hire for PSU.

The only knock on him might be that he has never been a head coach before. Regardless, he has paid his dues coming up through the ranks and deserves a chance. He's got a lot of connections/ties in Indiana (Indianapolis HS, Hanover College, Wabash, DePauw, IU South Bend, Butler, and Purdue twice, etc.); he might have been a good hire for the Hoosiers too. It will be interesting to see if he gets any of the top recruits out of Indiana for Penn State.....
