JTT - Garrett - Cage/Williams - Smith/Sawyer

Chambers - Gaoteote - Simon

Burke - Hickman - Martinez - Brown
(Banks in Nickel)

Give me that Defense to roll with and I'll sub as needed for fresh legs and situations. Heck, maybe move Hickman back in centerfield to be a Hooker type safety and sure tackler. The young guys are producing. PLAY THEM!

I'm a little salty reading the after game comments.

They moved Coombs to the box and Barnes to the sideline and let Barnes call the plays running the same type of defense. In essence, they made no real change because the guy on the sideline is still calling the Defense. Let the guy up in the booth call it since he can see whats going on.

This is starting to feel more like Day wants to influence the D calls and keeps the one calling the game next to him on the sideline. Hope I'm wrong.

Did a coach say this?

We played more zone than I've ever seen since maybe 2014.

Even called cover 2, which probably wasn't in the playbook before Oregon.

Day said that about calling plays on the sideline. There were wrinkles sure but still being called from the sideline. The jury will be out how different it really was after the tape is reviewed. Regardless the results were basically the same except we stopped the run and the pass was the damage.

Yeah I don't get the need to call it from the sideline seems bass awkwards

I thought they meant during the game that coombs was calling it and Barnes was signaling it in but doesn't look that way by the postgame comments.

Seriously. There was a massive change in scheme and philosophy.

He makes plays running straight ahead. When he has to play zone or man…good luck.
I understand what you are getting at but you do know he was a great LB in high school right? It's not a first time every playing situation and he's already made plays in the passing game. I have more faith in him at this point that any of the others that have been playing ahead of him except Simon.

Doesn't matter unless they make the change because that decision is not mine to make.

You didn't think it looked significantly different? Two high safeties, more zone, stunts, blitzes on the first drive? Not saying it was good defense, but they weren't just sitting around in base doing nothing.
