2022-2023 Ohio State Men's Basketball

Someone with a better long term memory can help me out here, but....seem to recollect that when Jay Burson went down (against Iowa?), and ended up wearing a halo for months (years?), tOSU was doing very well, but after the accident, lost almost the rest of the season.
1988-89 season the Bucks were 17-6 going to Iowa. Burson got cheap-shotted and they finished 17-14. Actually managed to win a couple of NIT games before losing to St. John's. Gary Williams bolted for Maryland after the season.

Bucks actually shot pretty well that half - even went 11-for-11 at the FT line.

But when you turn it over 9 times and get outrebounded you're going to give up a lot of points.

Assists:
Iowa 12, OSU 3

Turnovers:
Iowa 3, OSU 9

Offensive rebounds:
Iowa 6, OSU none

Sloppy, not sharing the ball, and getting out-fought on the boards is never a good look for a coach. He chose these players.

The lack of assists is really getting annoying. Speaks to all kinds of issues (talent, system, teamwork).

Single digit assists in 9 of last 11 games. On their way to 10 of 12.

That’s not good basketball.

I appreciate Key trying to play through his shoulder injury but he's wincing in pain in every game. It happened early in the Purdue game, and seems to have been the beginning of the end for this team.

I think they should shut him down for his own good. This season is toast, anyway.

His employer was fine with his work through last season, given the pay raise and extension. They'll view this as his only bad season, so far.
As you've seen, it only takes 2 bad years to get fired. This is one. He absolutely has to have a winner next season or he's toast. He'll probably load up on more mediocre transfers again to put the nail in his own coffin.

At least let him heal up for the conference tourney - these games mean nothing.
