2022 Rose Bowl, tOSU vs Utah, Jan 1st @ 5pm EST, ESPN

Ohio State coach Ryan Day said leaders on the team stepped up in the locker room at the half, similar to what happened in the 2019 Big Ten championship game against Wisconsin. Day said he'll leave what was said in the locker room, some of which he might not be able to repeat anyway, but that the leaders on the team stepped up.

The question that begs to be asked: "Where were these leaders during the halftime of the Michigan game?"

.#4 - I haven't followed Buckeye Football as long as some of you have, obviously, but having followed y'all the better part of close to 20 years now, I know the standard of Defense you all expect, and what I saw wasn't even close. If Coach Day is going to be successful, he's GOTTA get a new Defensive Coordinator, or something.!
Day’s already on it. Hired Oklahoma State DC and Broyles Finalist Jim Knowles. Current Co-DC Matt Barnes is on his way to be the DC at Memphis, former DC Kerry Coombs is still on staff but in what capacity we don’t fully know, but one would assume back to working with the DBs where he has done very well in the past.

great to end this season with a win.

standing back and being dazzled at the aerial onslaught, executed perfectly... setting all kinds of records and what not, feels amazing. proud of the breakout game stroud and the receivers had.

then it dawns on me that it took that kind of performance to beat a not-so-great team by a field goal.

i guess that's the story of this season. new defensive coach installed as of tomorrow. so, let's see.

and... is / was henderson playing hurt?

I don't think it's fair to call Utah "not so great". They pounded Oregon TWICE and looked very tough after a difficult start to the season. Give them credit, they are PAC-12 Champs.

"Not so great" is a relative thing, I guess... relative to where we think our competition is / should be.
I'm not taking anything away from Utah's performance. They showed up and balled out. 100%. Didn't leave anything on the table, so far as what I saw. Shit... they were on enough of a tear that their backup QB almost won the game for them.
But I don't think Ohio State's peak is to eke out a win against whichever PAC12 champ. If it is, then our goal(s), as a program, are entirely off-base.

Just to point out the obvious, OSU beats Michigan by 14-17 pts on the Rose Bowl field.

Unfortunately, we don’t get that type of weather every week in Big 10, and that’s a challenge Day needs to sort out…..this team can play with anyone when conditions are perfect (in a dome, the Rose Bowl). It’s not as straightforward when the conditions aren’t perfect and we need to rely more on power run.
