2023-2024 College Basketball General Discussion

I'm not sure why Villanova is still "in" at 17-14. Yes, they have some great wins, but they will have 15 losses if they don't win the conference tournament. I can't think of a single team to make the dance as an at-large with 15 losses on Selection Sunday.
It has happened twice both teams were +4 games above .500 though and after Nova beats DePaul if they lose to Marquette they would be 18-15.

In 2017 Vanderbilt was the first ever 15 loss team (19-15) to get at large bid they were a 9 seed.

In 2019 Florida went 19-15 and was a 10 seed

I think 15 losses is my breaking point. I don't think teams should get at-large bids for the big dance with 15 losses. It's ridiculous that Vandy was a 9-seed with 15 losses. Shows clearly the committee is a bit too biased towards power rating metrics and the related perception of how strong your opposition was.

Drake is killing Indiana St in the Valley title game. Indiana State's best wins by far were beating Drake once, and Bradley twice. They should definitely be in just because they won the MVC regular season & didn’t have many bad losses? Reward a team with an at-large bid for a regular season MVC title with 1 top-50 win the whole season? I don't know about that one.

IDK, they both honestly look like NIT-level teams to me. They are both mediocre at best defensively. Congrats to Drake, but it ought to be a very uncomfortable week for Indiana State. I'd have the Sycamores in the NIT.
They play more D than Alabama does though lol....I think it's a bit of a soft bubble this year, lots of very similar teams from across the conferences.

Indiana State was 27th in the NET coming into today but have only 1 quad 1 win (1-4)

They have no wins of note and no wins vs any at large or even bubble teams. (Well their best win at home vs Drake)

Sparkling record but will the committee take them for finishing #1 in the regular season in the Valley and having a top 30ish net.
