Petitty made the mistake of thinking last week's silence by the AD's was because they didn't care. It was because they assumed his dumb ass was handling it. Now that they know he's not, they're speaking up.
IMO, the big ten was silent because they thought Michigan would step up and take care of it. Those rudderless assholes gave everyone the finger with the contract nonsense and this is now what happens. Not going to act Michigan? Ok now we go to the big ten.
It does seem that, inconceivably, the Big Ten has not been investigating this cheating scandal. Let that sink in.
I doubt that. There’s no way they haven’t been on this as well.

It's going to glorious a year from now when those retards realize that they wanted to "support" the guy that just burned their program to the ground ....

At a minimum, the B1G should let Michigan know that they will taking video of the sidelines and defensive/offensive formations during each game, and analyzing the footage for evidence of sign stealing for the remainder of the season. At least put them under a magnifying glass.
The minimum acceptable punishment for this season, to me, is Harbaugh and the coordinators are gone and they have to finish this season with a brand new makeshift coaching staff, not one littered with cheaters.

A bunch of coaches say this gave Michigan a big advantage. But because a couple of hack sports reporters say there is "NO ADVANTAGE!" thats good enough for DFBIA

Also the same "THIS IS A HIT JOB BECAUSE EVERYONE IS SCARED OF HARBAUGH!" nonsense

This goes for this article and the Feldman article where 50 coaches were polled: Of course coaches that have a vested interest in Michigan/Harbaugh getting suspended, whether that’s in recruiting, winning games or for getting into the CFP, are going to lie in a poll or whine to the B1G. I’m tired of media and fans acting like these anonymous coaches are somehow righteous and moral, when they’re just looking for an advantage

All you need to know that this is all bullshit is that none of these people making a big deal about it will put their names to it.
No active coach would dare do it because he doesn't want to open himself up to people digging around his program and finding out just how hypocritical his complaints happen to be.

Exactly. What about the report where many analysts from different got together on Sundays to give info to each other. May be it is untrue. I am sure everyone does this and they don't want that to come out.

Lots of genius gold in this thread

It will cost the B1G $6M if they keep an otherwise eligible tsun out of the CFP. That's less than $500K per school, when these schools are going to pull in 80M+ next year. ESPN won't care because they're no longer in the B1G business. There is no legitimate reason for the B1G to not do something. It's not as though the new shit that has come to light is muddying up the situation. No, it's clarifying how bad this was.

Petitty refuses to act, and he's sending the clear message to all the schools that the B1G is Michigan and everyone else.

How do you think other conference commissioners will think if the B1G gets two teams in again, one of them who cheated to get in knowing they wins will be vacated eventually. How many of the conferences will get left out of the playoffs in that scenario? I feel lawsuits will soon follow.

It feels like people were kind of laying back last week and letting the information trickle out. Now, having digested what's out there, there's a groundswell calling for action. This will be very interesting to watch play out.

This isn't some free tattoos, this isn't some recruiting malfeasance, this isn't playing an ineligible player, this isn't even some clown of a coach paying for cheeseburgers on the University's card...this goes directly to the integrity of the game. You have nearly 3 seasons of a team going out there almost every week with a heavy competitive advantage...which, oh by the way, lines right up with when they stopped sucking. The media's getting loud, coaches are getting loud...people aren't going to sit back and wait for this to play out at the usual pace. An entire season is in question now. Hell, three are, but you can't take back what's already happened. You can still at least do SOMETHING about this season.

This is the thing I am not grasping.
You are bringing up something that is really bothering me. So the Tressel situation was him covering up some players selling/trading their gear for tattoos and food (basically) and for that he was banished. But that breaking of the rules had ZERO impact to the competition on the field.....literally ZERO.
Now we fast forward to this cheating scandal. And SCum broke a rule that gave them a competitive advantage during the playing of the games. Literally effecting the outcome of the games. And the B10 does not seem bothered by this action? This is truly unprecedented. They compromised the integrity of the game by breaking a very black and white rule. And it is taking massive pressure from social media to get the B1 to take action?

I think I need to try to walk away from this crap because it is starting to get me super pissed. And at the end of the day this is a game. But this whole situation just magnifies to me that for some unknown reason that school is allowed to break rules and everyone agrees to the narrative that they are virtuous and morally superior (OK so maybe only their fans).

This is the same school that has on record the biggest recruiting scandal proven in modern sports with the Fab 5.
This is a school that has a Basketball coach that hit another head coach at the end of a B10 game because he touched him during handshake line.
This is a school that bailed a player out of jail last season for speeding and carrying an unregistered gun so he could play against Indiana.
This is a school that has a Football coach under investigation by the FBI
This a school that has its HC for football being investigated for recruiting violation, lying about it, and refusing to cooperate with the NCAA
And now this same Football program seems to have clear evidence against them that they cheated.

So explain to me how this school should not be forced to vacate wins? Or forfeit the rest of the season? Or be ruled ineligible for the B10 Championship game?

Please someone explain to me how I am being over the top or just a SCum hater? Where have I taken liberties? Maybe embellished for effect? And it is OK to point out I have done any of these things. It would actually help me cope.

Should sue WaPo, ESPN, and WSJ for defamation while we are at it. All of those anonymous sources and investigative firms would be revealed.

If that happens we absolutely should sue their balls off, if for no other reason than to make them pay to defend the suit. So long as they want to press a vendetta so too can we for all the bullshit we‘ve historically endured from them.

If the B1G so much as cuts a tiny fart about this fake news "scandal" then I think we should go to the SEC.
Fuck the B1G. Fuck ESPN. Fuck Ohio State.

Clearly this is ESPN’s long con. Get Michigan pissed at the BIG Ten so we jump ship to the SEC and improve their ratings. Makes sense.
But seriously, if at any point the BIG instates a significant suspension on the coaches or a post season ban, that stadium should be chanting SEC on national television.

Nothing like enjoying the morning coffee at work and reading up on their nonsense.

This one is especially great

I agree that if the Big Ten does take any preemptive action against Michigan with a post season ban or vacating wins then Michigan should walk to the ACC or SEC. On the academic side, the ACC is stronger than the Big Ten with Duke, UNC, Cal, Stanford, BC, Georgia Tech, UVA and Wake Forest (and Notre Dame for all but football) as upper echelon academic schools. And then a slightly lower tier of Miami, SMU, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Pitt (and a not too shabby bottom tier of Louisville, Syracuse, NC State and Clemson). The Big Ten has two upper echelons in Michigan and Northwestern, and then the rest are in line with the ACCs slightly lower tier. Michigan would be a great and natural fit if Notre Dane nixed their independent football status to give Michigan a natural rival in the ACC.

And if football is the deciding factor, then the SEC is a no brainer and they’d take Michigan in a heartbeat.

Michigan does not need the Big Ten but the Big Ten does need Michigan
. I’d be happy to erase all Big Ten related traditions and rivalries if the membership is demanding action against Michigan without due process and even giving Michigan a chance to defend itself. Michigan is muzzled right now, so doing anything before the NCAA is done with their investigation would be a bigger scandal than Connor Stalions scouting off campus. It would likely ruin college sports if a precedent is set where private investigators bring evidence forward and teams are punished without being able present a case against the claims. (although I’m thinking college athletics is doomed anyways with unregulated NIL, conference realignment and super conferences that don’t make sense, etc. If I want to watch pro sports, I’ll watch the NFL, NHL or NBA).

Normally I would agree with you, but their attitude seems to have changed. Many seemed to have dropped the holier than now routine, and have full blown gone with yeah we cheated, it's no big deal, everybody does it, it's your fault for not working around our cheating, and we just have to win now and hope for forgiveness later. The always right part is correct, the identity of the cult has taken hold where they are just mouth pieces for the program.

Yeah this has broken a lot of the fanbase. Harbaugh was supposed to be the savior and failed in every aspect of his job up until his miraculous transformation into a coaching savant in 2021. The idea that this is all a sham is too much for most of them. They'd much rather cheat at a historic level and finally 'win' something, then deflect and evade afterwards.

It's absolutely hilarious that they cheated at such an unprecedented level and still couldn't manage one playoff win.
