Or said another way, the guy hand picked by Urban (who's track record of assistant coach hirings isn't exactly bullet proof) isn't good enough.

That is, imo, the cold hard reality of it.
Obviously that’s what I meant with WE lol… clearly us here can’t do anything to win.

But seriously we let the conference down by dropping this game. You have to believe Tony watched this one praying we’d win.

Now he has to hand the trophy over to those fucks only to have all 3 returned soon anyways

There is zero amount of NCAA punishment that can make this go away.

Zero.

Anyone not named Hartline should be in line for a nuking from the AD on down to the equipment manager. A sickness has set in ad before we get 13 years of this shit to be sure, someone with some balls should take charge and do something.

Agreed on the NCAA punishment part.

I disagree with the staff though.

I get you’re hot after this game but what Jim Knowles did all year was outstanding. Yes he should’ve done more at the end to get off the field but we only gave up 330 or so yards. His defense today was left out to dry by the offense once and then multiple times by poor punts.

Thinking we can do better than a top 3 defense is ridiculous. He showed growth this year and I expect next year to be much of the same.

Until he does it against tCun, IDGAF. What he does against everyone else means fuck all if it falters in The Game. That's my mentality, right or wrong.

The D didn't fail us. Michigan was expected to get ~20 imo. They got 19 without McCord gifting them 7.
It was the offensive side that failed all game. Turnovers hurt bad against them.
Can't be gutless (why did Day settle for a hopeful FG attempt before half?). Can't give them short fields on turnovers. Can't drop 1st downs. Can't go 3 and out with all that talent.

The BTN fall bus tour called this game back in August.

They saw the talent at Michigan.

And they saw that we had questions at QB and OL.

Yesterday we got answers - but still were in a position to win despite key mistakes.

I disagree. One bleeping stop in the second half probably changes the final result.

Speaking of final result -

Day is taking a lot of flack for trying a makeable FG at the end of the half. If that had been good (as it was the first time) we would have been down 3 on the last drive. Lot less real estate to cover and a lot less desperation involved.

The difference between this year and the last two years...an avg UM beat a very great OSU team last year by 3 scores. UMs best team in 3 decades beat an avg OSU team by stopping a game winning drive.
Couldn't agree more.

And to get back to the topic of this thread - with Frye's high risk/high reward D of last year knowing what gamble he was taking was enormous.

Ryan Day is not a perfect coach, but changing coaches is a high risk/questionable reward proposition. For every Jim Tressel there is a John Cooper or two. Just ask Notre Dame, Texas, USC, Miami, FSU, Florida, Nebraska... even Michigan.

11-1 is closer to the ceiling than the floor.

The team that had won two in a row played like the underdog converting 4th downs, trick plays, using a back up qb in a perfect spot, overcoming losing an AA in the game. Contrasted with a team playing with the arrogance and smugness of Bama and Georgia. The Bucks played like they were protecting something they never had..conservative, timid, unimaginative on offense and defense. That’s what is dissatisfying..it was a terrible loss. In contrast Washington Alabama won their games with guile. You say luck I say prepared to take advantage when you have a chance. Kyle could have thrown it away and keep hope alive. HE CHOKED IN THE MOMENT.
