2024 tOSU Spring Practices and Game (April 13)

Waiting on weather reports?
64 and sunny

“It’s a great day planned,” Day said. “To be the first spring game nationally televised on FOX, it’s exciting for our guys, for Buckeye Nation and for the program. It’s really cool, a really great opportunity. Our guys want to put on a good show and have some fun with it. There will be a lot of great recruits here. There’s a lot of great momentum around the program with how things have continued to build.”

Stop us if you’ve heard this before: Jeremiah Smith continues to make spectacular plays in spring practice.

RIGHT GUARD AND CENTER BATTLES STILL ONGOING

NO CLEAR STANDOUT AT QUARTERBACK

BRANDON INNISS SIDELINED BY INJURY

OTHER NOTES AND OBSERVATIONS

  • C.J. Hicks continued to take the majority of first-team reps at Will linebacker, with Sonny Styles also working at that position. Cody Simon, Arvell Rees and Gabe Powers all took reps at middle linebacker.
  • Egbuka led the line at punt returner with Ballard, Smith, Tate, Rodgers and TreVeyon Henderson also in the rotation.
  • Grayes had an impressive practice out wide, running some sharp sail and corner routes to haul in several nice catches.
  • Ohio State got some wide receiver screen work in during one period, with several plays designed to get Smith the ball in space.
  • Jayden Bonsu continued to take first-team safety reps alongside Caleb Downs in team drills, though Lathan Ransom worked with the first-team defense in 7-on-7 drills as he continues to work his way back from his season-ending injury last year.
  • Walk-on wide receiver Joop Mitchell blocked a punt during the special teams portion of practice.
  • Running back Dallan Hayden, who reportedly informed coaches Monday that he will enter the transfer portal next week, was not present for Friday’s practice.

Had forgotten that name - Doug Donley also known as 'white lightening'. Saw him in a Dallas uniform for a couple of years, but then nada. Figure he got wracked up by a safety tackle, and never quite recovered. Don't follow pros, so after any Buckeye leaves early, runs out of eligibility, etc. kinda lose track, unless some erstwhile poster here/other places, bring their name up. I'd bet there's quite a few names that we had at WR that have paved the way for the BIA tag that Hartline has gotten for tOSU. Go Bucks!
