#4 Ohio State 63, Michigan State 54 (Final)

you have great understanding of what he can do by, just being in the game.
They should make a stat called, SCARED TO SHOOT AROUND ODEN

If you watched the game today, when we applied the press and MSU would break the press and would have 2 MSU players on one side against Oden, they would not even attempt to drive the lane, they would turn around and go back to the top of the key.......his ability to block shots makes opponents think before they react and just play, they are always looking for him, he is always in their minds.

This may seem like a very simplistic post, but I continue to be amazed at how well Oden does the little things. He runs the court well, he catches the ball well (you'd be surprised how many big men have bad hands), and he uses force when necessary. And to think, he is just now getting healthy.

He is not perfect by any means and has areas that need improvement, such as dribbling in the paint and recovering on the pick and roll.....teams have been killing us all year on this play.

Actually, I wouldn't. Memories of Jermaine Tate and Velimir Radinovic are all too clear.

After the Purdue I made a post saying that the refs did a pretty good job overall.

I won't be saying anything like that about today's refs. :wink2:

Odenneeds a bit more experience on the perimeter defense. He got caught out of position on 3 successive pick and rolls that resulted in layups and one foul on Lewis. HOWEVER, the kid is a shot changer and an intimidator. I can't remember the name of the Mich St big man who was so intimidated in the paint on one 1st half play that he took two steps before attempting to dribble the ball. Othello Hunter is aloso coming on strong along with Oden. The 2 of them in sync in the paint are going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Red Cedar Message Board Vents Its Frustration

This is what a once-proud fanbase is reduced to.

It is not hatred they are feeling, it is envy.

And I like how one of those posters acts like he knows that Oden is being paid under the table and someone is writing his papers, which are the two reasons he is leaving after a year ( ). I can attest that both accusations are indeed a lie.

Quiet, Fishbulb.

Sorry, I just wanted an excuse to call you that. It's good to know that Greg's doing his own work. Of course, any time you say as much, they'll just respond that you're full of nothing but internet bluster....

it's a sad, cynical world in which we live....

I find it even funnier that a couple of them are yapping about Thad bitching at referees. This coming from fans of a team that has Tom fucking Izzo as it's coach. Hilarious.:slappy:

Best win of the season so far. UT game is a close second, but this was on the road in one of the toughest arenas in the country.

Alot has been said already, but Odens ability to basically cut off all points in the paint was crazy today...He made Morgan alter various shots and he went 1-9 for the day and there was 5 or 6 times when the guys came in the lane and dribbled right back out, It is kinda funny I have gotten in the habit of saying everytime a guy gets the ball in the paint that he isnt scoring, and 90% of the time he isnt as it seems to go right back in the guys face, an altered shot or a pass out...

I also think you have to give Neitzel his due. He has turned himself into a very good little player...He is nothing like he has been the past two years and has become a first team all big player.

You also have to like the fact that we didnt shoot well on the road in a very physical game, played 5-8 if you count the refs and still came out victorious. That showed great mental toughness from a very young team...

6-6 on our last six free throws to ice the game...It is great to have Butler to get the ball down the stretch...I get nervous with Conley there down the stretch, but I have confidence that will improve, just b/c Conley is Conley...

And last but not least, I havent seen anyone mention it, but Lewis needs his due for showing up at the right time...There was a stretch after MSU tied it up and then they were within 1 and he had the hustle play where he got back on D and got that block. Then he had that big 3, to go with the dunk and his 4 free throws down the stretch. Also had another block in that stretch and a couple big boards, and played well on Morgan all day.

ahahahaha, the IQ level looks pretty strong in that thread.

Congrats to the bucks on a great win. They're continuing to get better every game, and play together more and more every game.

The future is bright.

Freshman Oden helps reach milestone

OSU's second-straight win in E. Lansing rare. Center gets 16 points

By Larry Lage

Associated Press

EAST LANSING, MICH. - A once-in-a-generation player helped Ohio State University do something for the first time in more than 30 years.
Greg Oden had 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks to lead the fourth-ranked Buckeyes to a 63-54 win over Michigan State on Saturday.
The last time Ohio State won consecutive games in East Lansing was 1970 and 1971.
``That says a lot because there have been a lot of great Ohio State teams that have come up here,'' Buckeyes coach Thad Matta said.

Buckeyes pull off rare feat
OSU hadn?t won back-to-back at Michigan State since 1970-71

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

EAST LANSING, Mich. ? He plays for the fourth-ranked team in college basketball, is a starter no less, and yet from a personal standpoint, Ron Lewis? senior year hasn?t been what he might have dreamed it would be. He has struggled noticeably at times to mesh with Ohio State?s emerging half-court offense. His shooting from outside the three-point arc brings to mind this weekend?s wind chill. Coach Thad Matta sat him down a few days ago and advised Lewis to chill in a different respect.
