#4 Ohio State 72, Cincinnati 50 (Final)

I think this will be Oden's coming out game. A double double for sure, 20 plus points.
This could be the game where he establishes himself in the nation. We haven't come close to the kind of action he can achieve.
He may just "take over " this game.

thanks for the responses. ohio state, according to their website, is out. ticketmaster/conseco is showing tickets available for balcony only... and in just one section/one row. so, it appears that they are dry. after these tickets are gone, does it mean that ticketmaster will no longer have tickets available, or might they release more during the week? many thanks.

Why OSU didn't tee it up against Cincy

Heck no, the reason is that they beat us two out of two for the national championship when we had Lucas and Havlicek! Plain and simple.......shoulda been a three-peat.

Actually, I believe it was because Huggins ran such a poor program. I'm sure someone can dredge up the graduation rate of the UC bball players under 'the Hugger'.........and it's pretty low. The Damon Flint thing didn't help, but it was the old Woody thing of not playing an instate rival, plus taking marginal students, using up their eligibility and then saying adios. That is why Huggins didn't even get a sniff when the OSU job was open.

PS, thanks for that link to UC. Pretty good yuck on how Matta is a cheater, and was when he was at X. Anyone in Oh-IO hear anything about that one?

That likely won't happen. Still can't bend his wrist backwards making it tough to shoot. Expect blocks and dunks, but 20+ is too much to ask at this point. He'll dominate on D, but he's still not going to play 30 min yet.

Oden & Conley sqare off against former HS foe

Deonta Vaughn, Cincy's leading scorer, played at Arlington HS in Indy, a rival of Lawrence North.

Vaughn, originally a Mike Davis/IU recruit was forced to go the prep school route due to academics.

During Vaughn's Sr. year and Oden/Conley's Jr. year, Arlington would knock off LN during the regular season shooting them to #3 in the USA Today rankings.

They would meet again in tournament play in what was the best HS game I've ever seen. People began lining up during the day to get tickets for this game and were being scalped outside doors.

In front of a packed gym that included Matta, Prosser, Roy Williams and others, Oden would put on a performance that will be talked about for a very long time. A sub-par performance on the offensive end constantly drawing triple teams, Conley was there to pick up the slack. Oden however would set the state record for 18 blocks in one game! It was an awesome performance.

Oden & Conley would then go on to win their 2nd of 3 straight state titles.

I've talked to a number of OSU fans & most of them are concerned about being caught for recruiting violations.

I've seen delusional fan bases before, but the Bearcats take the cake.

Too bad, too, because I respect their program and their coach, Mick Cronin.

Deonta can shoot! Very good player. I remember seeing him play a couple times. This will be an exciting return home for these players. I'm glad I got some good seats!

I have a lot of emotional reactions to OSU sporting events, but the last time one made me cry was the last time we played Cincy. I was 12 and Jerry Lucas was my #1 sports hero. Still is.

Cincy takes on rival Xavier tonight.....I think this is an advantage for Ohio State.....we have a week to rest our legs and get a full week of practice in and they will have just 2 days to recover from what is usually a very heated and emotional game down there.
