5 players suspended for 5 games in 2011 regular season (Appeal has been denied)

Time to move on folks...

Players apologized, besides there's a bowl game to talk about now and that's what's really important...

There's nothing we could post that could even remotely mean jack shit going forward anyhow.

Time to Buck up and kick some Arkansas Ass.

Sage advise indeed.

Something for the "lets keep beating this horse" crowd to think about-The guy you sound most like is Mark May.

Just sayin.

Here is what I think you're saying: "What is important is that there is to be a football game. The ethics of who plays or doesn't play is immaterial.

The opinions that are being posted here are valueless and have no bearing on the football game.

Break out the brewskis and play ball!"

Is that an accurate restatement?

I thought they all sounded sincere. We should take them as such and move on. I think they all come back save for Boom. He has been in the program for 4 years and will graduate, so he doesn't owe anyone anything.

Suspension is limited to game action. Tressel could choose to impose extra changes, but the ncaa game is simply on saturdays.

This explains why they can play in the bowl game - it's on a Tuesday!

No, I think what he's saying is that if folks have an issue with these young men playing in the bowl game, then they need to realize that the decision has been made. The players are going to play. Expressing indignation or perceptions of unfairness on BuckeyePlanet isn't going to do anything to change that outcome.

I think that we all understand your position, cincibuck. If anyone feels aggrieved about this decision, then one always has the right to express an opinion in a letter or E mail to Gene Smith or an Ohio State university administrator above him.

I don't think its the number one factor in his mind at all but from a guy that has talked about wanting to set records and leave a legacy at Ohio State I do believe that he really means that. He knows that if he leaves now he will not be looked upon favorably the by people such as us (Buckeye fans). Reading into some of his comments today he said he wants to prove that he belongs here and make up for his actions(at least thats what I took from his comments).

Not to mention I think if he did file paperwork for the NFL to get an idea for his draft grade that some things came back in that report that are going to make him want to come back. We know and I think he knows that he still has a lot of things to work on to become a better QB ( or at at least I hope he knows this).

I think late second or third round QB - or most likely athlete. For all of the Tebow as fullback talk, TP as tight end has more juice in it to me. I think that he would be an excellent tight end. And I say this not to knock TP - but to guess what the draft report would be - now - at this time. He may have six games or so to improve in his senior year. Issue is, he should not be getting time with the first team while you have a starter needing to get ready for Miami and Sparty - - - and if he is to improve, how is this going to happen when he will not get his time with the first string offense or game time for five starts??? And if he will get the time, then how does it affect the 2011 starting Buck QB, if not adversely?

Agreed. Between the apology to the public and in private to past players I am ready to move on. This was a dumb mistake and they have owned up to it. I will never understand why they did what they did but then again I have/will never be in their position to make that decision.

Hopefully these players will learn from their mistakes and grow from them. Part of college is growing as a person. As a buckeye fan, I am taking this at face value and accepting their their apology.

Years from now they will likely regret their decision to sell these awards but in the meantime I hope they are able to take this frustration and put a beatdown on the Arkansas defense.

Go Bucks!

How do you figure?

Posey - Done deal, already said he's returning

Solly - Noone knows about him much, besides he wasn't an outstanding player. He'd benefit more from another year.

Boom - The backfield just because more crowded next season, him sitting could (and would) take too many carries away to be a remarkable player for the scouts eyes. Him having as solid bowl, combine, and possibly all-star game would get him drafted in the 4-5th rounds IMO.

Pryor - The scouts just don't see "QB" written on him right now. He can put feelers out to the league but he's not gonna get what he wants in return. Another year would seriously help prepare him as a solid 2nd round QB.

I agree. The 5 game suspension throws a huge monkey wrench in his decision making process.

If he comes back, the starter is going to get the majority of practice reps. And who knows, the starter might even set the world on fire and win the job outright when TP is allowed to come in and play.

It's a pretty significant risk.

If he goes pro and is determined to be a QB, he'll go in as a project and be able to work full-time on his skill set - something he couldn't do at OSU with the NCAA rules on practice time.

I'm not seeing much upside for him to come back for his senior year.
