5 players suspended for 5 games in 2011 regular season (Appeal has been denied)

Most likely JT was hoping that the players' appeal would get knocked to 2. Don't forget, the Yahoo leak forced them to make a decision on JT earlier than expected. If the plan all along was to match JT's penalty to the players', then the original plan was to probably wait for the players' appeal and then make JT's the same.

Hmmmm.... OSU have some talks with the NCAA and got an indication that 2 games is not gong to cut it????

Possibly, I imagine that 5 games may have always been the intention as long as the player suspension was going to be upheld. They wouldn't have wanted to promise to have Tressel sit 5 games then have the player suspension reduced to 3 games. Granted I'm not sure they had a realistic outlook on the situation when they decided to be so hesitant..

You get a speeding ticket rushing home because your kid is sick.
You pay the ticket and move on. It gets forgotten by all those without an agenda.
We still have more talent than anyone in the Big Ten. We still have great coaches who care about kids. We still have some of the best facilities in the country and a great university.

Now can we all shut the hell up about this?

You seem to think the issue is over. It's not. It won't be until the NCAA completes their investigation into Tressel's actions and announces their decision(s). Don't be surprised if his punishment, and perhaps tOSU's, is increased again.
