5 players suspended for 5 games in 2011 regular season (Appeal has been denied)

Kidding aside, I hope this is not true. I am looking forward to the SB game so much it is hard to get excited about the Urban swan song bowl. TP needs to zip his tweet. No good can come of that, save more press on the subject. And if any of it is true, I would be even more disappointed due to the AJ Green story - everyone should know about trading college football notoriety for things of value, be it selling a jersey or an autograph. NOBODY thinks that autographed stuff does not increase in value, and Tress is so smart and thorough that I would bet my house that he had folks cover the AJ Green problem stuff again. :shake: The bone-headedness of the allegations alone make me think that they are not true.

I'm trying to figure out why any college allows the NCAA to stick around. What do they do? Skim money off the top, fail to punish actual, real cheaters, and then nickel/dime schools that actually try to follow the rules. Why in the hell would ANYONE not just kick the NCAA to the curb?

they punished USC pretty harshly....it took a long time, but they finally got them.

the Cam Newton situation is clearly troubling, however.

But as far as this tattoo stuff goes, I've often wondered how some of these kids that were supposedly from less advantaged means were able to afford these tattoos all over their bodies. I hope this stuff proves untrue or very minor. But getting tattoos for reduced prices in exchange for an autograph would clearly be a no-no...and should never should have been construed as anything other than a no-no.

This is so frustrating:smash:

The colleges are the NCAA.

Here is the absurdity - and I have said this for every incident of this type regardless of school.

We have young men of 19 and 20 rubbing up against the millions of dollars that are today's college football. Coaches rake it in. The media rakes it in. The Athletic Department rakes it in. The NCAA itself rakes it in.

As for the players - they get a free education. Balderdash.

TP is worth 7 figures to OSU if he is worth a dime. Yet his very signature is not his own.

If you are going to a CFB fan, I think you need to get head around a simple fact.

There are two types of schools in the NCAA. One type of school ignores/tolerates/allows breaking the rules and the other type doesn't. On a day to day basis, it is always going to be more difficult to be a fan of the latter as opposed to the former because they are always going to be self reporting their infractions.

The good news for the good guys is that because of their actions, they are far less likely to get the big hammer dropped on them.

If that's true (and I have no reason to believe that you'd lie to me), then you'd think that many of the colleges would finally put their foot down and tell the NCAA to either do their job or they will put together an institution that will. Any company that had an employee or subsidiary or contractor that performed their job and carried out their duties this poorly would have shit-canned said flunky long ago. Even if the NCAA weren't trying to pursue this wild goose chase, it's already become obvious that the NCAA can't or won't carry out their duty to police and regulate college athletics.

can the NCAA suspend you for having a ridiculous Twitter name? TPeezy?.......

Even Tress can't watch these kids 24/7. and that's all they are in reality, still just kids.

This may have 0 relation, but I think the information matches up interestingly.

My buddy and I had some extra 2010 Pro Combat jerseys we posted on craigslist to sell. We were approached by a guy who wanted to buy 6 of them. He claimed he was friends with some of the players and wanted to get the jerseys signed as gifts for his family members.

We were semi hesitant but did some research and found his twitter ID was @Finelineinkusa where he had communicated with TP so it seemed legit. This was early last week. We haven't heard back from him since.

We have young men of 19 and 20 rubbing up against the millions of dollars that are today's college football. Coaches rake it in. The media rakes it in. The Athletic Department rakes it in. The NCAA itself rakes it in. Please explain how the athletic department uses that money it "rakes in". Could it be that most of that money goes into better facilities and training as well as more scholarships for folk in non-revenue sports that go on to benefit the community and humanity ? I agree that coaches and administrators consume some of the money...but the players seem to want to play for the most highly paid coaches.

As for the players - they get a free education. Balderdash. Many of us will earn over our careers...thanks in large part to having a college education. So you're saying it's worth nothing ?

TP is worth 7 figures to OSU if he is worth a dime. Yet his very signature is not his own. I agree that it's ironic...but those are the rules that Pryor agreed to abide by when he signed his LOI. If he didn't want to put up with them, he could have just paid his way to school and used its facilities to train himself to be a NFL prospect. As we've seen with the SEC programs, if there is an inch given they will take a mile. You have to either regulate or not.

If we want to give $ to the players then the last thread of amateurism will be gone and you will then have the junior NFL. Then the system will break down and lose interest. College football is followed by many because it's different than the NFL.
