I would also like to thank you for sending me over to a Texas forum for another reason.

Can we talk about the couch-burning stigma that follows OSU fans around wherever we go? How did this happen? If you have a degree from tOSU and have ever burned a couch, please chime in. Please tell me what you could have possibly been thinking. From where did this furniture come? Why did you think you were so effing cool when you burned it?

Things you could have been doing besides burning furniture: trying to get laid, playing foosball, watching "Dazed & Confused", rolling a fatty, learning how to play guitar, quoting episodes of "The Simpsons", calling your mother--she misses you, yelling at Michigan fans, eating a gyro, manscaping, deep-frying zucchini, getting the dog high, bumming a smoke, giving your neighbor an "upper decker", stealing trophies from frat houses, passing out in the front yard, or listening to "Dark Side of the Moon". These are all perfectly acceptable college activities and are all way more fun than burning sh!t.

Thanks for making me introduce myself as, "Yeah, I'm a Buckeye fan but, don't worry, I went to OU."

Oh, I don't know.

Setting stuff on fire, and blowing stuff up is a pretty good time.

Can TP or another player sue ESPN and Kirk Herstreit for him running his mouth. Challenge him to give up his sources which provided players names involved. Things like this can cost you in the draft because of character issues and it can also be defamation of character because it will hurt your image/reputation with no credibility.

Lawyers please break it down. I think it would be funny if Herbstreit got slapped with a civil lawsuit for a million or 2.
Such a lawsuit would be unlikely to succeed.

Or maybe Herbie, the "journalist" opened his mouth prior to getting any legit info, sort of like the Les Miles to scUM fiasco, which reminds me GBYBM YMSOB

I see where Grad is coming from, this is not something that is going to go away fast, unfortunately it will take a while for the feds and the tOSU/NCAA group to sort this out. We get to be the lead story on eSpin for a while I guess, while unbiased, straightforward, non-sensationalizing "journalists" investigate our rectum hoping [censored] falls out.
That's possible....but a few message boards had info about potential bad news on Monday. On Wednesday details emerge and are shot down in a couple hours. On Wednesday night shit hits the fan.

If all of it was just rumors and there are no facts at all, it would have all broken at once. You don't see too many false internet rumors that leak out this slowly. My guess is this is probably mostly fact.....although the question of "who" is still out there and hasn't been addressed at all by anybody who I would deem worthy of listening to.

That's how I got to the 2 scenarios. Either there are players who got free tats, or the parlor is lying to protect itself against some irregularities in their books. Occam's Razor tells me the first is more likely.

Agreed. I'm not a lawyer, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I did see 'Absence of Malice'.

I agree with BN27. The names being tossed around appear to be pure speculation based on those guys being pictured on that website. And unless he had other information, which I doubt, Herbstreit was wrong to mention any names last night.

Sure, anyone can sue any other party - just get a lawyer willing to take on a losing suit.

Sure, he can challenge Herbie, tweets at twenty paces!
It would, of course, be a totally useless exercise - journos of any stripe typically don't give up sources, why would Herbie be any different?.

If the investigation shows the player(s) did get tats for chicken-scratch then what reputation has been harmed? None.

I think that actually might do real harm to the reputation of any player or lawyer who does the suit slapping - because it would be fruitless and stupid.

I am not a lawyer - but that is my opinion.

4) Tattoo Parlor shop owner claims they were given to him for free to cover costs of services performed.
This is stupid and I don't know why he would say that. "I got it at a official signing" Prove he didn't.

On a side note, I'm not sure why they would go to this tattoo parlour, it is located in arguably the shitiest side of town (West side, Sullivant Ave)

I was just going to mention this.

There are probably 50 tattoo parlors closer to campus... and they are probably all a helluva lot nicer and do better work.

Spot on. I tend to agree with your likely conclusion regarding #1, but I hold out hope for #2. If it's #1, it's still a bit of a mystery regarding the actual parties involved since some have already stated they were not involved.
