5 players suspended for 5 games in 2011 regular season (Appeal has been denied)

what's the point of suspending a bunch of juniors for 5 games the next season? most, if not all of them, will declare for the draft now. there is no punishment. in my eyes, since this happened before the bowl game happened, they should be suspended for the sugar bowl. it's whats fair.
exactly. that's pretty disappointing.

edit: since it's the NCAA's decision and not OSU's, that's not as disappointing.

That would be my prefernece but I'm not the one making this decision. the bowl game is going to be one big media circus with this hanging over the coaches and players heads. Can't think of any way they beat Arkansas with this fiasco on-going.

On the radio, Gene Smith has said that tOSU will appeal and hope to reduce the number of games involved in the suspension.

Talking about mitigating circumstances and trying to help their families, etc.

Stressing that there's no criminal activity. Not an agent or booster case.

This might not be a punishment for the players, but it sure as hell punishes the program. In my eyes, if they do declare for the draft now, a 5 game suspension equates to kicking them off the team. This is embarrassing.

If JT comes out and says all of them are sitting for the bowl game then I will have no problem with it. Fuck

am i still alone that these kids should have been kicked off the team?

if they play in the bowl game im done. i no longer will be a season ticket holder

These sanctions were handed down by the NCAA. *NOT* Ohio State.
Ohio State suspended them for the bowl game, the NCAA lifted that suspension and handed out the 5 games for next year.

First 5 games next season- fyi

9/3 Akron
9/10 Toledo
9/17 @ Miami (FL)
9/24 Colorado
10/1 Michigan State

...oh and then @ Nebraska for the 6th game.
So, I'm wondering why they wouldn't take the 1 game for the Sugar Bowl and then the first 4 next year. If it gives ANY hope of these guys staying...and winning a conference championship.

Not that I'm even sure I want TP representing the Scarlet and Gray anymore...honestly. Kid tried to say the right things, but his actions have repeatedly brought scrutiny and bad press.
