Purdue's offense makes it difficult to get pressure. Their line just chop blocked and allowed Elliot just enough time to run their classic 5 yard hitches/slants/outs.
However, I didn't expect him to escape as well as he did.
The D-line wasn't too bad. Wish the corners would have been playing in Purdue's jersey the whole game, as opposed to playing 10 yards off. Didn't get that. Purdue didn't throw a pass beyond 20 yards down the field (maybe a broken play or 2).

Time to stop picking on TP. The kid had a terrible game, yes, but it's not like anybody else (and that includes the D) stepped up to help him out. The O-line was terrible, the running game was terrible, the play calling was especially terrible (1st and goal from inside the 5 and once again JT settles for a FG), and our much vaunted D wasn't exactly "lights out". Does that make it all TP's fault? Hardly. Enough of bashing one man for all of our extensive woes. The Buckeye Nation should be supporting the players and demanding more from the coaches, plain and simple.

This is Ohio State and we bring in decent QB talent every year (or so). Tress has benched a several year starter before (Boeckman).

Disagree. Homan and Rolle were disrupting him most of the time. They forced him to get rid of it quicker than he wanted to and made him move around. They also laid some nice hits on him to let him know not to get comfortable.
I don't think you blitz every down but I do think it was needed more often and it would've given the D a better chance to get off the field.
My memory may be off(I usually need to watch a game a second time to judge it correctly) but I remember the blitzing being effective.

I saw success with the DL twists and moderate blitzing...then the D got gassed...then we started sitting in a zone behind it.
The hook/curl read routes slowed down Heacock from blitzing...it was wasted motion

As a disclaimer, I'm only through 12:09 of the 4th quarter on DVR...had to leave after the first quarter.
As bad as Terrelle has been, the game management, yet again is beyond bad. Did Tressel not learn anything against USC in regards to pushing at the end of a half? Run on first down, Purdue burns a timeout, leaving 1, and they throw an incomplete pass, letting Purdue save their last TO for a clock stoppage after a third down run......just unbelieveably bad game management!!!! Where did JT go in regards to football savvy, and understanding of game situations? Purdue goes into the half riding a tidal wave of momentum after a 55 yard FG that NEVER should have happened.
Now I'm at the 1st and goal and Tressel sends out the FG unit on 4th and goal from the 2. Down 23-7, against a team that is moving the ball, and an offense that hasn't sniffed the redzone, I think you need to roll the dice. Beyond the decesion to not go for it, I hate the playcalling in that series.
And a few terrible breaks....Sanzenbacher caught the ball on the sideline toward sthe end of the second quarter. Coleman's strip should have been legit, as there was no whistle to stop the play. Browning's holding was as ticky-tack as it gets..especially after watching what Wisconsin got away with, and even Purdue in this game.
Purdue is doing a great job of moving Elliot around. Props to their offensive coaching staff for putting him in a position to succeed. Our defense laid some big hits, caused some havoc, and he still made big plays and controlled much of the game.
I still think our offense is square peg and round hole, and just don't see it getting much better....more experience for TP and all. He just isn't a pro-style QB. The Troy comparisons are fine(in reagrds to career development), but Troy had more tools as a pocket QB and QB overall. I really hope they get Terrelle more help in the offensive system and designed plays for next year. It's obvious Terrelle hates contact, and it limits what the staff can do, but for every 30 yard gain Terrelle picks up on the option, 9 other plays are strung out runs where he had 5-6 yards inside, a bad pitch, or fumble. I still think if the staff is smart, they take a page out of Urban Meyers playbook, and take decesion-making away from the QB. For all the accolades Tebow gets at UF, think about how many offensive plays are set-up for him where all he has to do is execute....fake the hand-off to Demps coming across, find the TE on a backside cross....it's just so simplified, and there is nothing wrong with that. I don't even understand why you want a 6'6 physical freak like Pryor sitting in the pocket anyways....its just a waste of his skills.

Yes, Boeckman was benched...for Pryor. It's time for JT and the rest of the coaching staff to figure out how to use him. If anything, time should be running out for some of the assistant coaches (no names needed). For example, how many years will the O-line be a "work in progress"? How many times will we settle for a FG inside the 5 yard line? How can tOSU offense rate DEAD LAST in the B10? These are not problems that can be solved by benching Pryor.
I can't speak to what happens in practice, in the locker room or in the community, but the coaching staff is failing when it comes to performance on the field.
