A coach that pisses you off

cincibuck

You kids stay off my lawn!
Watching Steve Spurrier on the sidelines was almost enough to make me root for Florida State or Miami... hell, throw in Tennessee... he always had that pain-in-the-ass look on his face, as if he needed an enema. He set the NCAA record for crying to the refs. When he lost a call he took his complaints to the media. And he always had a reason for leaving his #1s in until 2 minutes left in the game and his team up by 50. I even rooted for the Dallas Cowboys when he moved on to the Redskins and that's saying something.

LLLoyd is a distant second to Spurrier in the whiney, I-can't-believe-we-didn't-get-a-call department, plus we have the privilage of watching him slump off the field lately.

For as much as I hate the Cowboys, I never seemed to mind Tom Landry. He took his lumps early and late with the same poise that he took his ride on top in the glory years, But Jimmy Johnson with that Frisch's Big Boy hairdo and Barry Switzer had many of the same personality flaws that make Spurrier so endearing.

So who makes you flash the international sign of disrespect at the TV screen when the camera closes in on the sidelines?

Fulmer would be one...

Jon Gruden... hate that dude.

And if Joe Paterno hadn't been such a great coach for so long, I'd say him too with how damn whiney he has been to the refs the last few years... through out all the clips the last few years of Penn State, they are all of Paterno chasing down a ref.

Steve Spurrier
Jimmy Johnson
Phat Phil Fulmer
LLLoyd Carr
Bob Stoops
Lou Holtz (try standing still)
Bo Schembechler
Charlie Weis (but only very recently :wink2: )

And I agree, cinci, I've always hated Dallas but I respected Landry.

I'll just add:

Mike Martz. The guy just oozes arrogance at every turn. One camera shot and you immediately want to kick his ass.

Dick Vermeil when he can't stop crying (which is about 80% of the time).

Bruce Coslett always looked like a goddam dufus too.

Yeah, Spurrier. Every time he jerks on that silly visor, there is a place I would like to put it. I think Stoops learned how to jerk on his headset from watching Spurrier jerk on his visor. Jerry Glanville used to drive me crazy as well, and I was an Oiler fan. And maybe my all time worst is VanGundy.

Gotta go with Bob Stoops, which is sad to say because he is an Ohio product. But the reason I go with him is because he acts and talks as if he never lived in the state of Ohio before. I was in the Oklahoma area for a little while after he won the National Championship, and to see and hear him talk on his TV show made me sick. The guy has the whole good ole boy from Oklahoma routine down to a Science. I don't think you could convince any Oklahoma fan that Stoops is actually from Ohio without showing his birth certificate.
