Game Thread Akron at tOSU, Sept 3rd, Noon ET, ESPN

Hoping to see some good things from Philly Brown and Braxton in the second half. Also possibly some more pressure being dialed up. Can't complain about what we've seen thus far though. The passing game actually looks much more sound today than in other early season games with TP at the helm.

Well the funny thing is May just shows what a scripted act it all is...he steadfastly will not say anything good about OSU no matter what they do. They might as well bring in Cyndi Lauper and Captain Lou Albano.

Is it me or has the o-line looked GOOD? They've absolutely been manhandling Akron on a consistent basis, something I haven't seen in an OSU line do to even lower opponents in awhile. There were many times when Hyde wasn't even until five or six yards down the field.

Also, give me more Carlos Hyde plz.

Definitely agreed here. I can remember openers and early season games where they got no movement at the LOS. I think that speaks to motivation, as those same lines showed a great ability to run block later on in the season.

yep. Given the time Baus has in the pocket, I'm surprised that y'all did not take some long shots.

It's funny how shit always finds ways of justifying the same score. I'm sure he's saying Alabama is doing such a great job managing their game, yet Ohio State fucking sucks. Oh ESPN and your stupid fucking double standards.

Spielsy was begging for it all half

I imagine they might take a couple until it gets to around 35-0, then take the air out of the ball.

Ist Half Observations

Joe played an impressive first half. No turnovers. Good decision making. Nice zip on the ball. Accurate with his throws. Nice scrambling when nothing was there. Spread the ball around. I don't think that we could have asked for more.

I love the BIG back combo of Hyde and Smith. We will be in good hands if we had to go with those guys all year. Very impressed with Hyde.

Stoney is a beast out there receiving the ball. He really is a mismatch for corners, safeties and Linebackers.

The OL did well in both run blocking and pass protection.

On Defense, we gave up no points. That's always the goal.

Akron only crossed the 50 yd line once the entire first half.

Turnover. Nice grab by Sweat

A lot of balls knocked down. I counted about 4 in the first half.

The D basically dominated the first half.

Clarke is filling in nice for Howard. No drop off imo.

For 2nd half, I'm hoping to see Braxton get in at least 3 series.

Hoping some of our other Freshman will get in some solid minutes as well.

:osu:

:oh:

Just want to point out for Fickell fans out there...this team looks a hell of a lot better than Tressel's did in his opener against Akron in 2001. That bodes well for Sir Luke.

Love the way Hyde and Smith are running the ball. Dont love the fumble.

Bauserman looks and is carrying himself like a 5th year Senior. Very nice. I'm a little worried that we cant go downfield more but that could be by design.

Defensively, I love love love the aggressiveness. I'd like to see the Dline make some more plays but it could be the way they are playing their assignments that have the LBers making all the plays. Sabino and Sweat look fantastic.

Got to get Basil some confidence.
