Alabama Crimson Tide (official thread of Football, Fake Championships and Banjo)

Saban just turned 68 a couple weeks ago. He's inside his last 5 years, I have to believe. I feel sorry for the guy takes his place. That fanbase isn't going to have a lot of tolerance for losing.
They will have a superiority complex for a very very long time after Saban. Because if they dont get Dabo, there's slim pickings. A coach that can recruit and coach to the level they have become accustomed to is unrealistic. Osu fans lucked out, because we were a bad hire away from being a USC

oh they’re gonna blow through coaches like Michael Irvin goes through hookers and coke.

look at what happened post-Bear.
Ray Perkins QUIT following a 10 win season in ‘86
Bill Curry QUIT following a 10 win season in ‘89
Gene Stallings QUIT following a 10 win season in ‘96 in which they made the SEC CG. he announced his resignation before the SEC CG even. This was guy that had been to every single SEC CG except one up to this point. And had a Natty in his pocket from just 4 seasons before.
Franchione quit following a 10 win season in ‘02.

all of these guy quit for same reasons. they were hated by the fanbase for not being Bear Bryant.

It is painful to say this, but...

We had a lot of fun at BamaFan expense over their expectations vis a vis Saban. For the most part, they were right and we were wrong.

But being right then is going to make them extremely overconfident when it does come time to replace St Nick. That applies from drunk, 120 lb Imma Kill You! guy all the way to the boosters and the AD who will be making the decision.

Yeah they were right last time; that doesn’t mean they were being reasonable. Being vindicated while being unreasonable has a long history of ending very, very badly, long term. This will have been a long time coming, but it will be glorious.
