I love me some Antoine Winfield but in today's game give me Lattimore and Shawn Springs at corner instead of the all world 5'9" guy.

Both 6' and complete lock down corners.

I am tempted to put Okudah in there but I just can't do it yet.

Give me Hooker at the single high safety and Doss down at the strong and we're in business (until they start making Doss cover slot receivers)

Your backfield would shut down the Iowas of the world

Against spread teams, imagine Okudah coming in to cover the slot. Forget body type; the way he plays gives you everything you want there... much better in run support than most guys with that body type who are that good in coverage. (and yeah... Winfield in the slot... not a bad option)

Or not hit people so fucking hard

To your point, though, Hooker had the ability to clean up quite a few coverage mistakes, and the cornerbacks you named arent allowing a completion with or without Hooker anyway. Mike Doss would be illegal in today's game. Damon Moore may have been just a hair more violent, but Doss was on a different level

Totally agree with your point, though "too many Cooper players" isn't why. IMHO the best way to improve the team they came up with (using a post-Bruce player) is to dump Jenkins for Shawn Springs, a Cooper player.

It just seems like a pointless exercise. If Price or Elflein don't make the lineup because they're not allowed consideration, for example, what's the point? I could do a reverse-mesh team with that would be stocked with current/recent players at the expense of a few from the Cooper era and that wouldn't make any sense, either.

They have the wrong Bosa brother from the Meyer era

I think if we had gotten to see all of 2018 N. Bosa, we'd have had two defensive Heisman. Would love to see passing downs with Joey at DT and Nick/Chase on the edge.

For the secondary I'd have to go with:

CB: Springs
CB: Okudah
NB: Lattimore
SS: Winfield
SF: Hooker

It is very soon to bring in Okudah, but between watching him last year and the film breakdowns/incredibly high praise from credible players and coaches, it's hard not to take him. He's tall, athletic, and can act like an eraser inside or out. Basically everything you want in a CB.

I know the Winfield move is really odd, but his physical nature already makes him a great run stopper and while his height is still an issue, he's a significantly better cover DB than Doss. Love Doss, but he's more of a Daron Lee in today's game. Just too many mismatches if he plays at safety.

Hooker had some issues with run stopping, but his ability in pass coverage was amazing.
