To lose to Texas as Ohio State did, was not that big. It was a hellava game one that alot of people will remember. But the loss to PennState was huge.
That win gave them everything to hope for and they were one play away from being undefeated against Michigan. Michigan State could pose as giant killers with an upset over PSU. If that happens we just have to win out and were in for a BCS. Otherwise I shall see you all in Tampa for another wonderful trip to the Outback. Cheers.

If we win out, the worst we do is Citrus bowl, not outback.

Okay, folks who are the potential automatic qualifiers for at-large spots? Other than the automatics, it's a "beauty conte$t", hence Notre Dame takes an at-large regardless of whether it's automatic. OSU looks pretty good in beauty contests.

Automatics goes to BCS Conference non-champions who finish in the top 2 (ala Oklahoma after losing to KSU.)
Possible: USC or Texas?

An automatic can go to maximum 1 BCS Conference non-champion who finishes 3rd or 4th. (one of these kills OSU's BCS hopes for an at-large)

Possible:
Pac 10: USC
ACC: VaTech - would they really be ranked in the top 4 if they win out?
Big 12: Texas
SEC: 'Bama

Give me a fucking break. VT will move behind OSU because they have played nobody!!! They were exposed!! UCLA, VT, and FSU losing will move the Buckeyes up 3 spots. ND's remaining schedule will screw them out of a BCS bowl. I hope Alabama beats LSU...WE MOVE UP ANOTHER SPOT. If osu is in the top 6 in the BCS they will go to the Fiesta Bowl. That Bowl comittee loves the Buckeyes because they travel well.

Plain and simple...win out and we'll be going to the Fiesta Bowl.

Unless PSU loses, I don't think OSU can make a BCS Bowl. Considering that a 2 loss ND team is guaranteed a BCS bid and they're a lock to run the table (Navy, 'Cuse, & Stamford remaining), there's only one at-large bid to get.

If UCLA beats USC (which is unlikely), OSU is guaranteed to get bumped from the BCS. UCLA would get the Pac-10's automatic bid & USC would almost be guaranteed to get the one at-large spot.

But this won't happen. USC will run the table & play in the Rose Bowl, and a 2 loss Ohio State team would be favored for the at-large over a 2-loss UCLA.

The biggest thing that happened for OSU yesterday is the ACC games:

The Va Tech loss REALLY helped us out. It basically puts them out of the picture for the at-large bid, because Ohio State is more attractive to the BCS than the Hokies, even with having 1 more loss than they do. The Florida State loss was big too. The only way they make the BCS is by beating Miami in the CCG, and if they don't, they'll finish the season with 3 losses & out of the BCS.

What will most likely happen: Miami will beat FSU in the CCG (Miami has gotten better since the 1st game while FSU has gotten worse, and FSU won't beat Miami twice in one season. Won't happen), and Va Tech will be on the outside looking in.

We'll be at least 8th in the next BCS but I'm very interested to see how much we jump in the pollsters eyes because its geting that time of year when they try and jive their polls up to the BCS as much as possible.

The conferences whose champions have a guaranteed annual berth in one of the BCS bowls are subject to review and possible loss of that guaranteed annual berth should the conference champion not have an average ranking of 12 or higher over a four-year period."

If I read the last sentence correctly does this mean that Big East could lose their automatic bid (if the the BCS has the sack to make that call)?

Unfortunately for CFB they get to count both Miami and Louisville in their 4 year rolling average so they are safe essentially untill the BCS agreement runs out.

Did anyone else notice during the Miami/VT game that ESPN was reporting that Penn State clinched the Big Ten BCS bid with their win over Wisky? What is up with that? I thought that if we win out, and they lose to MSU that we would get the outright title? Am I missing something here?

Rose Bowl
1. USC vs. 2. Texas

At-Large Notre Dame vs. Big East Champ West Virginia

Orange Bowl

Sugar Bowl
SEC Champ Alabama vs. At-Large Ohio State

Then the Orange Bowl picks .. they'd probably pick the Big Ten Champ Penn State. The Sugar Bowl would follow with Ohio State, and the Fiesta rounds out the last pick with West Virginia.

Suprisingly enough ESPN is incorrect if they said that. All PSU did by beating Wisky is give themselves control of their own destiny but they have had that for a while now.

If PSU loses to MSU and we beat scUM we are the outright B10 champs and they(PSu) will more than likely get blocked out of a BCS bid alltogether ( I think the pollsters would cruicify them for losing to what would end up 2 unranked teams from tsun if we win out).

Tony Hunt added 151 yards and two scores for Penn State (9-1, 6-1), which can guarantee a trip to a BCS bowl if it wins its final regular-season game, at Michigan State on Nov. 19.
