BCS predictions/discussion/Knock Em' Off

If OU loses to OSU who will the Mizzou/Kansas winner play in the big 12 championship game? Is OU still in?

The 3-way tiebreaker is complex, but it would end up being the highest rated BCS team among the 3. That would certainly still be Oklahoma.

I'll just say that if the Buckeyes manage to back their way into the NC game I'd rather not see WVU across the field. The 'Eers remind me of Illini squared.

No criticism intended of the Buckeyes when I say "back into;" any team in the game this season will have backed its way there.

Illinois without the defense, WR's and a month to get ready for them is more like it.

I'll be happy to play anyone for the NC if we make it, I'll be fucking river dancing if its WVU.

I've said it before and I will say it again, I would rather be in the NC game than not. I don't ever care who we play as long as we play.
We can beat any team on any given day is always my outlook on the Bucks.
That is why at the start of each season I say we can go undefeated.
That is why I never give up on the Bucks in the middle of any game.
Because MY Buckeyes can do anything.
GO BUCKEYES

I'm not sure how this will all shake out, though I must say that I have always believed that the Bucks would find a way into the title game. That being said, and with the Kansas/Missouri vs. WVU talk.........I'll throw this story out there.

A guy that comes in to my work is one of the audio guys for OSU. After the Illinois loss he was on an elevator with a couple of representatives from the Sugar Bowl. He said that one of the reps. remarked to him "we are very disappointed that you guys lost this one........" essentially implying that they were really pulling for the Bucks to get there, given the way that our fans travel and spend.

If it comes down to Missouri or Kansas vs. WVU, I can't help but think that OSU will leap frog one of those teams and get in. These bowls want the big name schools with big tradition. Those schools have a much more die hard fan base, and have a plethora of folks who will travel.

Call it a hunch, but I think that we'll be in the title game regardless of how the rest of the season shakes out.

If I'm on the West Coast I'm pulling for WVU to come through so we get OSU right where we want them, in the Rose Bowl against a home town team.

Let's face it, should USC win out with a stomping of ASU and UCLA their two losses will be forgiven by the So Cal press, the first or second biggest media market in the country and the only one of the two with a real college football conference in its midst. They will fight hard to keep the Buckeyes right where they need them... in the Rose Bowl.

If LSU should come back and blow the doors off of Tennessee... no I don't see Kentucky winning this game... It will be hard to keep LSU out of the NC game. Best team in the best conference...

Or the BCS becomes a 1 loss WVU vs 1 loss Kansas NC game in which case there will be a lot of eyes on the Rose Bowl as "The Real NC Game."

WV is going to win out - and it doesn't affect our chances too much if they do. Either Kansas or Mizzou has to win both games to get in.

USC can't get into the Rose Bowl unless Oregon loses another game. I don't know where you're getting USC as already in the RB.

LSU has NO CHANCE of being in the NC game. It will not be hard to keep them out no matter what they do now - they are done.

If Kansas loses, they are OUT of the NC game picture. They only have one chance - to win out. I think they will lose to Mizzou.

What we need is for OK to show up and beat Mizzou (or Kansas) and we are in the NC game - end of story.
With ASU going down, that was the only team that could maybe leapfrog us, so we aren't going to get passed by anyone below us - no way.

If Georgia makes the SEC champ game, and gets beaten by LSU... and Big12 dies off with OU winning the B12, and WVU drops a game or two I think LSU would be back in the NC hunt.

That seems implausible; however, just a week ago it looked like we were guaranteed a trip to the Rose Bowl.. and Michigan still sucks.

I think USC or Va-Tech would get the shot before them, the reality of the BCS is that it's not who you lose to, it's when you lose. We lost to a higher ranked Illinois yet due to the time of the loss West Va is ranked over us.

Who knows though, if I could predict the BCS this year accurately I would be making a lot more money.

Thats what I keep saying. Not that anythings fixed but the CFB powers that be are going to be tempted to use any excuse they can to put at least one "big name" school in the NC picture if they get to choose between Mizzou/WVU/OSU.

Wait till it all shakes out but I guarantee a large portion of pollsters and Bowl reps do not want a Kansas/Mizzou vs WVU NC game.

As long as KU isn't undefeated at the end I'll take our chances in a 3 way beauty contest of 1 loss teams. I don't think who's currently behind who will be as big a factor as some think.

I think USC trumps LSU unless LSU dismantles UGA. UGA is probably the scariest team in football? USC getting healthier by the week does make them an interesting match.
