BCS predictions/discussion/Knock Em' Off

Is it wrong that Pitt beating Cinci by more points than WVU beat Cinci gives me a little hope? I guess Pitt losing to UConn doesn't help much after WVU destroyed them 66-21, though. I'm looking for something to grab onto, here! I want to have two chances instead of just one in Oklahoma.

Michigan beat Illinois. Did that mean Michigan would have beaten us?

Yeah and Stanford beat USC and Notre Dame beat Stanford sooooo.... Notre Dame should be our opponent in the Rose Bowl. Unless Cal beats Stanford by more than Notre Dame beat Stanford in which case Oregon should be in the NC cause they clobbered Michigan and Michigan clobbered Notre Dame.

I agree, cincibuck, that the Appy State loss by TSUN was a killer for prestige.

That said, there is one factor that played heavily in their favor - 1st game of the 2007 season. By the time Alabama lost to UL Monroe they should have had all the kinks worked out. I'm not sure that it moves the line close enough to make 'Bama's loss worse, but it is a factor against their effort, or coaching or execution.

dont they try to avoid season rematches like LSU/VT?

This is not possible, because either LSU or Tennessee must be in the Sugar Bowl as the SEC Champion. Also, there can only be 2 Big 12 teams in the BCS. It will either be Oklahoma and Kansas or Missouri and Kansas, the loser of the Big 12 title game wont make a BCS (which sucks if Missouri beats Kansas but then gets passed over for Kansas for a BCS).

HtM has made it clear, every time he's posted it, that his "projections" are not actually "projections" but are the match-ups that would be provided by a purely hypothetical alternative system. He says they are "just for fun". His other posts indicate that he is completely familiar with the rules that are actually in place.

I do try and follow the rules of the BCS (at least when it's convenient :wink2: )....but Tennessee instead of Georgia in the Sugar Bowl vs Hawaii....pleh, Tennessee's D would get rolled. It'd be no game. Georgia's the more entertaining matchup, as is Oklahoma vs. anybody instead of Boston College vs. a BCS team that will stomp their guts out.

I don't see any chance of WVU losing but I can definatley see the Sooners knocking off Mizzou!

I agree. I think JT will have a great game plan for WVU. I think he learned a TON last year after the Florida game. The entire game was a perfect storm for dysaster. Once Ginn went down, we didn't know what to do. WVU isn't as big of a threat passing the ball as FU was last year.

As for Mark May and a Big 10 conference championship game, who would you have us play this year and last? This post season crap started with ML baseball and has spread in the minds of idiots as something that settles the question of who really was better in a sport where round robin play isn't possible.
This year: Illinois
Last year: Wisconsin
2005: Penn State
2004: Iowa vs. Michigan
2003: Michigan vs. tOSU
2002: Iowa

It wouldn't be so terrible. In reality, the best way to get this to work out is to make Michigan and Ohio State play in the same division.

I still think every Big Ten team should play every Big Ten team. But, I doubt it will happen. I've heard the main reasons include the financial aspect.

losing by 7 with illinois getting a gift TD and some questionable officiating isn't almost winning? i'm afraid it is.

your 100% right on the gift td and calling the officiating horrid is generous imo. but the fact of the matter is we were absolutely dominated in the 4th. even if we were up a touchdown or two going into the 4th, i have no faith that our d could stop them that day or that our o would have been able to move the ball efficiently enough to kill a comback. they ate up 8 min and 43 seconds of the 4th on a single drive that ended deep in our territory with the victory formation. if that isn't domination i don't know what is.

No doubt. Unfortunately, they owned us as the game went on. We were beaten that day. Don't know why and find it hard to believe that would happen again, but it DID happen on that day.

thinking arkansas has a real good shot this weekend at lsu. uconn should make it closer than the 17 point spread against w va. mizzou or kansas is out. 4 teams ahead of us. only have to get to #2 for a title shot. we're on cruise control. happy as hell to go to rose bowl, be 11-1, and beat the school up north, but it's not over yet.:oh:
had it pretty close. fuck missouri and the hillbillies:osu3:

As someone from the county below I took that hillbillies comment as a hurtful stereotype.... Then I got a sense of humor, I agree but as I've noted before wouldn't the rest of the country love to see a game contained within a 205.11 mile (According to mapquest) distance.
