BCS Title Contenders (Can tOSU get there?)

BB73,

The only threat to an at-large bid would be if Utah/Boise get one at-large, #3 and #4 are at-larges (eg, Oklahoma/SEC and USC if Oregon State wins the Pac10), and the bowl who loses #1 picks an at-large (eg, an SEC team to replace Bama or Oklahoma to replace Texas). That would take a lot to happen and the Rose Bowl would have a chance to pitch a fit, but it isn't impossible.

Thomps, not sure that's the case unless USC goes to NC. NOONE wants to see a rematch of OSU/USC (except the OSU folk/players). If USC gets edged out, then they're a mortal lock for the Rose. Fiesta likes OSU, but not sure if the fans will travel out there (again!). Sugar is SEC land, and will they want OSU? I recall that the Bowls 'pick' from who is eligible.

OSU travels great, and the revenue (butts in the seats) is always good. I'm not sure of the order of the Bowls this year (someone more learn-ed will know I'm certain), but they pick who they want from those eligible. Heck, what Buckeye fan wants to go to the Cotton Bowl?

Hope that after the win over PSU this week end, that OSU is moved to top 5, but I'm still certain that the voters will conspire to keep OSU out of the NC, and will vault a one-loss SEC team (or Oklahoma, or even Texas if they lose in Big XII championship game) over OSU.....

Not sure I answered the question of the thread, but wanted to share my opinion....remember an opinion is like an a_ _hole, everyone's got one.

:gobucks3::gobucks4::banger:

Nobody...except the Rose Bowl. Nobody wanted to see USC-Illinois...except the Rose Bowl. They are committed to Pac10-Big Ten, and will take that matchup whenever given the option.

I've expanded on my post. I think the only way a 2-loss tOSU gets shut out of a BCS bid is if the Rose Bowl ends up with Oregon State-Penn State, which is very unlikely.

But I do think a 1-loss Bama facing USC in the Rose Bowl is possible. Then the Fiesta would probably take tOSU.

And the possibility of an Oregon State-tOSU Rose Bowl with Penn State in the Title Game, resulting in only 1 BCS bid for the SEC, is just too good to ignore. The SEC would scream about it for decades.
