meh. lombardi's is a fine place for tourists. it used to be great at least five years ago. they've changed since then, and the quality has unfortunately gone way downhill. i can think of at least five other pizza places in the boroughs that i'd rather go. off the top of my head: napoletana, luzzo's, totonno's, patsy's, and johnny's (my favorite; in mount vernon).

i'll put it this way:

if i'm recommending a pizza place to a tourist, it's definitely lombardi's (or grimaldi's). however, if i'm recommending a pizza place to someone who wants the best pie possible, it's johnny's... and it's not even close. good luck with the service, though. it's often horrible and uninviting.

Besides the rennovations, I have not noticed any change at all in the pizza at Lombardis. Ive been going there for 15 years - seems the same every time.

Big Bob's Best Pizza in Oceanside CA is good. Italian Bistro in Summerville SC is good.....

Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs, Colorado is one of those pizza's that if you don't try before dying, you will look down and wish you did. Best pizza on the planet.

That looks like a pile of half melted cheese with some pepperoni and mushrooms from a can. How can that even be considered pizza?

I think there's some crust peeking out at the bottom.
