Am I the only one that's a little bit flustered by the fact we are continually calling committed recruits? As much as these kids are "soft" commits, I really loved how JT actually respected the commitment to other schools....

It's nice to see this staff really going hard after THE best players possible - but I can't stand the idea that we might be engaging in some disrespectful (yet legal) recruiting tactics. Yes we can say everyone else does it, but I've always been a big fan of doing it the right way and not pissing anyone off.

Disagree 100%. UFM has said if the kid says stop calling they will listen. Bottom line, the kid is flirting and OSU just wants one date to see if it's a fit. Love JT, but this is big boy football and you recruit until the end. As UFM said, I got 9 coaches who better do it again next year, and harder.

I have absolutely no problem with Coach Meyer's recruiting approach. Like it or not, this is the way one needs to do business in order to compete with Alabama, USC, LSU et al.

Not sure where you get the idea JT "respected the commitment to the other schools" and stopped recruiting them. We flipped a number of kids during his tenure. That ideology about JT is 100% false.

I have been following recruiting for longer than I have been a part of this site (before 2004) and I have never seen this many committed recruits on our board. Just has never happened. Maybe it wasn't as public as it is now - but I just don't see it.

I don't disagree that it might be something you have to do to compete - but for anyone to act like or suggest that the previous staff was this aggressive when it came to committed recruits then you are mislead. Please scroll down the recruiting forum and tell me that you've ever seen this many committed recruits still on the board and not moved to the other board (2013 in this case).

Urban is not perfect. JT was not perfect. I am just pointing out the fact that he can and has been described as rude/disrespectful. Half of the players on this team dislike him and I'm worried that half of the coaches are going to dislike him for reasons other than on field success.

Don't get me wrong. I love scoring 63 points. I love winning. I love speed. I love the excitement around campus. I am part of it. But I refuse to act like it won't come with a price. Just trying to minimize that price.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, really.

False. Meyer forces you to buy in or you're out. Playing and practicing for Meyer isn't easy. He drives coaches and players into the ground. Expect some transfers at the end of the season. With that said, the guys loves Urban and they love winning. With Urban its about chasing the 'brass ring' these guys love shooting for that dream.

Do some guy's not love Urban? Sure. But to say half the team isn't with him is hyperbole at it's finest.

Really, because the reason why Bradley Roby is here is because Tressel recruited him when he was committed to Vandy. If the kids are a hard commit to any school they don't have to talk to other coaches, there is no such thing as disrespectful recruiting tactics.

Since when does disliking someone mean you won't play for them? Come on people. Bill Clinton was a crappy person that people didn't like but he was still "winning". All I'm saying is that being a good person and winning and is what I value.

I am by no means calling Urban a bad person. I have met the man multiple times. My parents have worked with him. He's a fine person. All I'm doing is voicing my concern for the tactics supposedly being employed.

And hyperbole? Eye of the beholder big guy. It's not like we are gonna go do a statistical analysis in binary form on whether or not players currently like the guy. There is a feeling around the team that he is difficult to get along with and steps on many toes.

And again, just my two cents. I rarely post lately for just this reason. I have scarlet and gray lenses as well. But to act like all is perfect and quiet on the western front is purely uninformed.

A couple of points...

1. President Clinton's people LOVED him.

2. When a regime change takes place there are always going to be a number of folks who fare worse than under the old regime and become resentful.
