In a perfect world, once a kid committed, his phone would stop ringing. That isn't realistic. You think scUM, MSU, PedSU and the rest of the BIG teams aren't still calling our commits? Nothing would make Hoke or Dantonio happier that flipping one of our guys to them. Not gentlemanly, but that's how it's done in college football today.

Am I the only one that's a little bit flustered by the fact we are continually calling committed recruits? As much as these kids are "soft" commits, I really loved how JT actually respected the commitment to other schools....

It's nice to see this staff really going hard after THE best players possible - but I can't stand the idea that we might be engaging in some disrespectful (yet legal) recruiting tactics. Yes we can say everyone else does it, but I've always been a big fan of doing it the right way and not pissing anyone off.

Mark, shouldn't you be getting your team ready for Iowa? I'm sure that would be more productive than posting here...

Urban is not perfect. JT was not perfect. I am just pointing out the fact that he can and has been described as rude/disrespectful. Half of the players on this team dislike him and I'm worried that half of the coaches are going to dislike him for reasons other than on field success.

How about "he does not suffer lack of commitment gladly?"

I can see why some players might dislike him commenting to the press on their performance shortcomings. But, do they think that neither fans nor the press see their performance?

Not a lot of gray area with this coach. It is explicit. Train and perform or depart.

Is there a price? Yes. But the alternative is a benign slide toward mediocrity that has its own price.
