Big 12 CCG: Mizzou 21, Oklahoma 62 (Final)

Nothing like Bradford being in with 11 minutes to play, up 27 frickin' points.

Is it bad to hope for karma?*

*-- I kid. I kid. I don't want any injuries, but I do disagree with him being in the game.
If an injury resulted, I would hope (but not expect) the pollsters would vote Texas in.

It would certainly be interesting.

This is clearly a case of Stoops wanting to win by as many as he can to impress whatever doubters may remain.

Just not right, in my opinion. He proved it already. Get the starters out and enjoy your Big12 Championship. Don't turn this into some bigger statement. It's not necessary at this point.

Oh well, Bradford hardly takes any hits as it is, so he'll be safe.

Another OU TD.

If I remember correctly you made the same point about Tech's QB, whose name I don't even remember. The point is, Tech also has a 1st rounder at tackle. And they got owned by a good defense, just like they do every year.

I don't think I did...I did breakdown the difference between Bradford and Jason White. The huge, unbelievably wide differences.

I don't think Tech has a first rounder at tackle. Technique wise, Loadholt is better than any Tech lineman. GM's also aren't keen on 5 foot splits, and lineman that have a severe focus on pass pro.

Graham Harrell was a 4 or 5 star though. Highest rated QB to ever commit to Tech. Probably a 3-4th round pick though.

Oh yes you did!

Again, blitzing is generally a bad idea against a team with quick throws and an offense designed to pick you apart pre-snap.

and it appears that you offered some prescription against such an offense as well:

yeah, a very good DL already looked terrible against them. I'm with Gator. Jam the receivers, and try and disguise the coverages.

I happen to agree with your prescription.

right...jam receivers, disguise your coverages. Not much in their about the DL.

I thought you were referring to this thread, didn't know you were talking about the tech offense thread...my bad.

Honestly, Tech hasn't had a RB of Batch's caliber, or a QB of Harrell's caliber since Leach has been there. The O-line was probably the best its ever been too. That lead to there success this year.

Oklahoma has as much talent defensively as any team in the country, outisde of USC, IMO. And in that game, Stoops did nothing special. He rushed his front 4 a majority of the game, brought a few blitzes, but he hit hard, mixed man and zone, and stopped the run.

I didn't think they could hold Tech under 35, but they also recruit as well as anyone in the country. Sometimes good fundamental football, with GREAT athletes is enough to dominate, and it was that night.

I definately think OU will put points on the board against UF. OU's O-line is amazing, especially with Loadholt and Duke Robinson. And I think UF's secondary will be on their heels a lot of the night. This isn't a SEC offense.

At the same time, it isn't a Big 12 defense.....but UF had an awful lot of trouble in the secondary in 2007. I guess it's a question of:

Did UF's secondary improve that much, or did UF's schedule benefit a weak secondary? I was really hoping FSU would have a chance to test it, but not many answers can be had when a tsunami rolls through.

Again, I think UF wins, but probably close. I don't think UF holds OU under 24-28 points.

WV has proven that it does take a great secondary to hold OU down, and also that to simply score in the 20s won't be enough for OU to win, or even to stay close.

did you hear about the time UF took the worst national championship loss in history of college football(Tommy Frazier and Nebraska), and came back and won the title the next year?
