Bitching about the 2004 Season

Problem is, I really don't think trying to make that kind of change mid-season is likely to work. All these plays they've been working on over, and over, and over, have been blocked a certain way (badly). What happens when all that changes (by which I mean spacing, timing, the 'look' and 'feel' of it... ) with a team as young as this one, it could just lead to even more confusion, missed assignments, embarrassing losses.
Hard it is to tell a lineman just to drive block the guy right over top of you. It's real simple.

The Herbie-bashing is misguided because that implies we're just not getting the point of what he is saying. Herbstreit is one of the best college football analysts out there, way better than the ass-clowns in the GameDay studio.

Who does not believe what he says is not only true, but is a very likely scenario?!? I'm still trying to figure out whether we have what it takes to get to 6-5 (before you laugh, ask yourself if our supposed 3 gimme's the rest of the season are really gimme's? Indiana. Penn State. @Michigan State).

The truth stings...deal with it, and more importantly, let our team learn from what's going on and get better.

:boohoo: = Stupidity of such an extent that it demeans me to respond to it. Hence, it's frequent use for Milly's posts.

Actually, Rashmish, you've never used it for any of my posts. Nice try, Kashmir.

We will be lucky to finish 6-5 with the way the offense is.

We have young, talented players, but the coaching staff is not allowing them to grow and develop as players. What's happening is that all of our young players who are capable of being playmakers, are afraid of making mistakes, as a result of which they are playing scared. They need to learn how to make plays and then live with any mistakes they make.

Agree completely.

I have an honest (semi-honest) question for everyone. Is it too late to switch blocking philosophy for this year? Most of our OL were brought up in 'basic' blocking schemes (find assignment-hit assignment-push assignment into turf). Give 'em a week against Indiana to work out the wrinkles and just go out and hit somebody. There's too much thinking going on, and not enough hitting (at least on the OL)
One of the best posts I have seen to date here.

Evolve or die

If this continues JT will be forced to make changes....by Geiger. AG will start to feel the pressure from the boosters and the economics and insist JT make the changes. He will either evolve or leave the program. It is really that simple. That's the way CFB works and even stubborn Jim Tressel can't change that.
