Boston Celtics (17x NBA champions)

Until we go out west and beat San Antonio, Phoenix or Dallas.......the media will continue to doubt Boston.

I could care less, I think its funny to listen to them squirm a wiggle when confronted with what they said before the season. I'm confident they'll do fine when going out west, the important fact is they are beating the teams they have to beat to win their division and their conference.

A lingering ankle injury will cost Celtics shooting guard Ray Allen another game.
Allen won't play Sunday afternoon against host Toronto, according to The Boston Globe.

The Celtics lead the NBA in opponents' scoring average and scoring differential.
''That's going to be our staple pretty much all year long,'' Pierce said. ''We're going to take pride on the defensive end.
''When you get 12 guys committed and on the same page, night in and night out, anything is possible,'' Pierce added. ''That's what we have right now.''

And that's Paul Pierce speaking......!!!! Ray should be back against the Pistones Wednesday.

Billups' last-second free throws end Celtics' 12-0 home start

BOSTON (AP) -- Chauncey Billups has had enough big moments in his career that he knew exactly what he wanted to do against a younger player.
Billups hit two free throws with a tenth of a second left and the Detroit Pistons handed the Boston Celtics their first home loss of the season, 87-85 on Wednesday night.

Billups, who scored 12 of his team-high 28 points in the final quarter, was fouled by Tony Allen. On the previous possession, Billups' turnover gave the Celtics a chance to grab the lead.

After Paul Pierce missed a shot from the left baseline and Rasheed Wallace grabbed the rebound before calling time out with 1.7 seconds left, Billups then talked with teammate Richard Hamilton about what to do if they collected the inbounds pass.

The truth isn't always black and white for Celtics

Now that the Boston Celtics matter again for the first time since Starter jackets were cool, we need to clear up the old misconception that rooting for them to win the championship would be like rooting for Vanilla Ice to win a Grammy.

The Celtics' acquisition of Kevin Garnett and their early-season success have stirred up some conflicted feelings in the black community. I've seen it in e-mail chains, heard it in phone calls. African-Americans would like to root for these Celtics, but?
Let's just say it: To fans who came of age during the NBA's glory days of the 1980s, the Celtics have long been considered a "white team." They were Larry Bird's team when Magic Johnson and the Lakers were the other choice. The Celtics were the squad that had Danny Ainge, Kevin McHale, Jerry Sichting, Greg Kite, Bill Walton, Scott Wedman and Rick Carlisle on the roster long after the league had taken on a darker complexion. It didn't help that they were representing Boston, which had a long-standing reputation -- fueled in part by stories Bill Russell told -- of being an unfriendly location for African-Americans.
