Boston Celtics (17x NBA champions)

- Rajon Rondo is very athletic and will help make up for the deficiencies that the Celtics would otherwise have on defense. As a rookie, he lead the league in steals per 48 minutes. So what if he can't shoot? Those other three are getting paid the bucks to shoot, not him. He should really shine with them around him.

- Kendrick Perkins is a bit of a bust, but he averaged around 13 rebounds per 48 minutes. Again, he is not a well-rounded player, but his commodity (he's seven-foot and will hit the glass) will come into play here.

- Glen Davis would have been a lotto pick if he came out the year before. He has the potential to be a real steal in the second round just like Arenas and Redd before him. It's up to him, but he's already showing signs of being motivated to prove the doubters wrong.

The Celtics should have gotten Garnett without giving up Gomes and the second future first-round pick, but all-in-all, it was worth it to challenge for a conference title in the moribund East. I expect a conference title, barring serious injury, and I've never liked the Celtics one day in my life. I will admit, though, that the opportunity to see their games and hear them on the radio up here in New England causes me to be intrigued by their season. Just like I've never really adopted the Pats up here, but you can't get away from them...

I keep seeing people posting about giving away the future but the reality is there was not a future for this team or franchise.......I have hope now and realistically do I think they are in the finals? No....but I expect them to be competitive and make the playoffs.

All you Boston haters out there.....let us Celtic fans have some hope before you piss on my parade.

Hey, this team is definately better than last years squad and should make the playoffs w/o any problems.....but again, if the championship isn't going to be won, why trade away the future of this squad? Essentially, Boston is putting their faith in KG, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen for the next 1-2 years(after that we have old players w/ just heavy-laiden contracts). If they don't get it done, Boston has no first rounders or money to move players. Honestly, during next year, I could see Boston moving one of the three at the trade deadline b/c the plan has failed miserably.

But if you're a Boston fan I would be excited as well. It must be exciting to have 3 great players when last season there was 1 who basically sat out during the most important part of the year.

Boston has not had a "future" for the past 15 years.

I for one am happy that Danny Ainge pulled this off so now us Celtic fans have something to cheer about and have hope for.

Thats all I have ever wanted since the late 80's was hope, and now I have it. Stop trying to fuck it up for me.

This should make you happy Tron... That's one big Red Sox uni....
The Celtics landing Kevin Garnett was great and all, but I know that ever since the deal was announced, many of you have secretly longed to see Garnett in a Red Sox uniform.

In an Age of Apathy, Garnett Brings Energy, Enthusiasm

By Sean Grande
Special to Celtics.com
August 1, 2007

I usually tell the foyer story.
I mean, over the years, I've been asked about Kevin Garnett a hundred times. About the three years I spent calling Minnesota Timberwolves games on television. Even in the six-plus years I've been back in Boston.
But in the last 48 hours, since this basketball fantasy has become Celtic reality, I've been asked pretty much non-stop why I'd been leading this campaign, spreading the gospel of Garnett over the last couple of months.
You know, I've heard that those of us who call the games shouldn't have favorites, shouldn't have players we love to watch, players we root for. But anyone who tells you they don't is lying, has no pulse, or both.
Anyway, about seven years ago we were in Houston taping a halftime piece with KG, I'd say we taped it at the Marriott if that information had even a smidge of relevance to the story. There was some kind of a delay and as we were killing time, the topic for some reason became the new house he was building in the Minneapolis suburbs. I asked him how it was going, just chit-chat, and before you know it, he's all wide-eyed, and animated (a look you'll all become intimately familiar with over the next few years) talking about the foyer. They're putting it in this way, it's going to look like this when you walk in, etc.
And in the middle of this verbal cataloging of his impending interior design, he stopped and said "it's cool now, but I wonder if I'm going to like it five years from now." It always stuck with me.

F the Bulls...F the Cavs and F the Piston sissies..this is the year of the CELTICS...we have waited long enough and now is the time to restore the dynasty

I smell a serious vbet before the season starts.

Mark it down. There is no way a team with one loner superstar, two fringe all stars, a point that doesn't need to be guarded, no center, no bench, and a coach that should have been fired already is going to win the Eastern Conference....

Not gonna happen. Optimism always reigns supreme after a blockbuster trade. But this trade has all the makings of the NBA's version of the Herchel Walker trade.

All you Boston haters out there.....let us Celtic fans have some hope before you piss on my parade.

I'm confused. Are you a Cavs fan or a Celtics fan? 'Cause you can't really be both. Reals Cavs fans have always hated the Bulls, Celtics and Pistons.

I am a little confused by your logic since the Celtics are not exactly rivals of the Cavs and play in a different division. I have the right to follow who I want, its ridiculous to call me out for liking Boston. I like the Cavs and Celtics....get over it.

Actually his name is spelled Herschel Walker and I think KG is still in his prime unlike Walker who was winding down.....besides, Dallas was given 6 draft picks and 5 players at the time. Boston gave up what is essentially 1 first round pick and several players who will not make an impact except for Al Jefferson in my opinion.

You just described the Cavs in my opinion...You need to just look at the Cavs this past year....Lebron led pretty much a so so club into the finals.....it is a possibility that Boston can get it done also. To rule it out completely right now is a little early in my book.

The Boston Celtics began filling out their trade-depleted roster Wednesday a day after acquiring Kevin Garnett, agreeing to terms with journeyman guard Eddie House on a one-year, $1.5 million contract.
The Celtics will use a portion of their mid-level exception to sign House, a person involved in the talks told ESPN.com. Boston will still have $3.8 of its exception left.
