Braxton vs. Bridgewater (Split Discussion)

I believe Teddy plays AGAINST slightly better competition than Braxton.. that said, I also believe Teddy plays WITH much better teammates and does not have to create offense on his own all the time - he has stud playmakers all around him. Then again, this could also be an advantage in that he knows how to better utilize other players and has a better understanding of offensive concepts.

My opinion is, as far as their college futures are concerned, Braxton is my man. Right now Teddy is ahead for a number of reasons but it's downright scary to think of what Braxton could do with a strong supporting cast and a better grasp of the passing game.

Let's pray we don't become overconfident with our recruitment of Miller because I don't know if I could forgive the staff if we let him get away...
But I'd settle for Teddy. :P (by 'settle' I really mean 'extremely excited about')

You really can't lose.

Quick question: Miller is a terrific prospect, but what has he shown that puts him a notch above Henton? I see a lot of similarities in the two and don't quite understand the obsession with Miller.

As in Antonio Henton?.....I don't even see a comparison. Henton was a pocket QB with mobility. A Troy Smith if you will......

Braxton is electric.....we're talking about a guy with jukes and quicks. A Michael Vick/Tyrod Taylor type athlete with a very nice arm.

The fact his video shows a freshmen QB picking apart solid high school competition is impressive.

He has so much more to work with physically than Henton did....Henton was good at a lot of things but Braxton is great at a lot. Miller is just more explosive with the ball in his hands, has a better arm, and is versatile enough to play other positions. On top of this, he is only going to be a junior and has been showing how special he is since his freshman year. He certainly has refining to do in his passing game but his potential is simply off the charts at QB. He will need a good junior year to show some production to go along with potential, but I have no doubts he will if he stays healthy.

As for Bridgewater being some type of fallback option...not going to happen imo. I've seen no evidence that he loves OSU enough to wait and see what happens with Miller. In fact, I don't really even no if we are in that good of standing with Teddy, regardless of Braxton.

The athleticism difference is obvious but I think you're talking more about as a QB. Duane Long had a blog about Braxton a few months back where he claimed he was "the best quarterback prospect from Ohio in my lifetime". I can't find it now (I think it was on his old blog format which I don't know how to access) but he had a lot of good things to say about Braxton's throwing ability.

Ohios Best regardless of class

I find it interesting that he has both 2011 Millers ahead of Hicks and Norwell.

Thanks, I found the full Braxton blog from that link:

Braxton Miller - Duane Long's OSU Buckeyes Football Report

I don't know if all of you subscribe to Bucknuts. I saw some of Braxton Miller last year but Mark Porter has an exclusive video of Miller. I was impressed with him before. After seeing this video I think there is an argument that he is right there with Terrelle Pryor as a quarterback prospect. I would go so far as to say his passing skills are so clearly superior to Pryors at a similar stage that if it was a boxing match the referee would step in and stop the contest. He has a very quick release. The ball comes up and it is gone. His mechanics are so solid there will be no wasted time trying to work out his fundamentals. He sets his feet and delivers the ball over the top. I noticed how accurate he is. Every ball is where the receiver wants it. He is a sophmore in this film and he is making sight adjustment throws. Get outta here with that. Pryor is having trouble with that right now. This kid, I don't think he has a drivers license yet, is out there executing it like a college veteran. I was frustrated that there were no plays to really get a good look at his arm strength as I was watching this kid, then about three-quarters of the way through I saw it. The deep out. That is the throw that tells the tale on arm strength. Miller throws s frozen rope and it gets there quickly. I was stunned. Pryor is a bigger kid. That is the only thing he has on Miller. I would not say that Pryor is a better runner. Miller runs the offense smarter which makes him a better runner to start with but that aside, Miller is just as impressive a runner. The icing on the cake is he is running the same offense we are seeing Pryor run.

I would say Duane sees Braxton as more than a "notch" above Henton.

This is all a moot point IMO. Miller will be a Buckeye and Bridgewater isn't coming here to play WR. Teddy is going to end up with a ton of big-time offers down South at QB, and ends up at one of those schools.
