Buckeye Cruise for Cancer

Not sure where else to put this, but I am heading to a funeral service for a co-worker's wife who succumbed to luekima on Monday. She was in "remission" and then suddenly came down with a fatal blood infection 3 weeks ago.

He is left with his 3 kids ages 8, 10, and 12.

Fuck cancer.

wow, that's ridiculous...

condolences to that family

It truly is scary how quickly cancer can turn your life upside down. There's someone I somewhat knew just because she played tennis in the area, never liked her that much, but she was hot (for a mom). Well a few weeks ago, my mom tell's me she has colon cancer and apparently has spread to her lungs (she's only like 45 or something).

there is a poster on ozone who is calling out several players for being dismissive and outright rude. if his experiences are shared among other attendees, which seems to be the case, i hope that certain players are not permitted to return next year.

Re: There are several new guys this year that have made it clear they don't like being here.

They must of had an idea what it would be like with the fans onboard. I'm sure nobody put a gun to their head and made them go; so why didn't they just pass and not go on the cruise? If they just wanted to help Urban's Cancer Charity they could have just written a check.

In the "big picture" their actions just hurt the Urban's Cancer Charity since some of this year's passengers (and as the word gets out) other possible people will be reluctant to book future Buckeye Cancer Cruises, etc.

probably because they get a free cruise full of food and alcohol.

I could be wrong, but I'm assuming the players paid their own way especially due to the large number of them onboard. Pretty much all the "Bucks On Board" should have the resources to pay their own way; however, maybe they did accept a free cruise for using them to promote the cruise and/or their participation in some onboard autograph sessions, etc.

Just sayin': If they did pay their own way and then participated in some promotions/onboard activities I'm sure they could take it as a tax writeoff....8D

Regardless I'm guessing that they had to pay their own "bar bill".

Then of course even if they didn't want to go, possibly their mother, wife, kids, and/or girlfriend did; so they capitulated and went.

$2.5 Million. That's not insignificant.

Given the words coming out of the cruise, it would be a good thing for folks involved to have a very serious sit down with the guys who were being... well... less than altruistic to point out a few things... Things like:
* to whom much has been given, much is expected
* like it or not, tOSU is a brand... you can add to that brand or you can not. If you chose the latter, you cannot come back.
* there are some affluent jock sniffers on the cruise, but by in large, they just want to get a fist bump, a signature or a smile. Don't screw it up for them, they are the ones who are the back bone of this thing.
* yes, you are the shining object in the room. Act like you've been here before because, FFS, you have. Act like it.

I pray that the the reports coming back from the boat are being overblown, but I fear that they may not be. I hope that the parents of these guys, many of whom are on the boat, take the kids by the ears and remind them of the importance of this event and their place within the event.

CARDALE JONES TO LINEBACKER? Admit it: You have at least once looked at Cardale Jones and his 6'5, 250lb frame and been like "that guy could play tight end... or linebacker... or defensive end." Well, you weren't that far off. He has a nice hit here on Ezekiel Elliott.

The Controller of Tides now holds the rare distinction of someone who is actually able to tackle Ezekiel Elliott.

You know, if I was on a cruise ship, by the pool, with Zeke not looking, I could probably tackle him too. But I don't think he'd have the same reaction if I did it.
