Buckeye Receivers - 2005

I love it but will not support that website.

I find your lack of support appealing.

and more proof that internet polls are retarded

hes not even the best WR on the team

I agree 100%. Ginn will get better, but so will Holmes. Few, if any, WRs in the country run better routes than Holmes.

I'll say it, yet again. Why in the hell are a bunch of ESPN-the-magazine-cancelling Buckeye fans hanging out at ESPN's piece of shit website?

I'm not just saying this post-MoC, I never liked their website - it's a cluttered mess. I never liked their magazine - bought one copy early on and wrote it off as garbage.

Do I need to supply a list of links to sports news websites superior to ESPN? I can't remember the last time I was there, and I don't know why I would need to go there ever again.

Think outside the box, folks.

Keep your friends close... and your Tom Friends closer! It's just interesting to see what everyone thinks of you. Daily I just run down the links on footballfix.com. I'm with you on ESPN the magazine.

They compare Ginn to Rocket Ishmail...........not too bad if you ask me. He's the only one on their list with one of these.

1. Santonio Holmes, Ohio State (Jr.) – In the Ohio State offense, Holmes’ full potential is somewhat muted, however, NFL scouts don’t need to see 75 catches and 1,000 yards to know he’s one of the most dynamic playmakers in the game. His calling cards are rare levels of speed and quickness. Holmes has been clocked in the 4.3 vicinity, and makes the kind of sharp cuts and shifty moves that leave defenders helpless. He’s the total package athletically, and he continues to hone his pass-receiving skills. NFL teams looking for a Keyshawn-sized receiver, who can make blocks downfield might shy away from the 5-10, 180-pound Holmes. NFL teams looking for a game-breaker, who can electrify a crowd will scoop him up early in either the 2006 or 2007 draft.
2004 Numbers – 55 catches for 769 yards and 7 TDs
Shades of…Santana Moss
has this guy seen santonio block downfield, he is a solid blocker, not dominating but willing to pay the price so his guys can get the few extra yards or break a big one.

i also find this interesting
Shades of…Joey Galloway
Shades of…Michael Jenkins
not bad 40% of the guys are compared to three yards and a cloud of dust players...

Here's 2 things that jump out at me after looking at that list:

1. Ohio State has transformed from the strictly running school of old into a school that has produced its fair share of Wr's over the last 7-8 years.

Not only did Santonio and Teddy both make the top 3 in that list, but number four (Todd Watkins) was compared to Joey Galloway and number five (Dwayne Jarrett) was compared to Michael Jenkins. Doesn't sound too bad for tOSU recruiting efforts-- "look at this list of Wr's we have produced or are currently on roster". It is even more impressive when you consider how little esteem our QB's have garnered over the same time.

2. The old myths of tOSU, and the Big Ten, (and the Midwest in general) speed inferiority and WR inferiority compared to other conferences and warm weather schools is completely baseless.

There are 18 players on that list from what I would call midwest schools. Miami(OH), BG, Penn State, Iowa, Iowa State, Pitt, Ohio U., Minnesota, Michigan, Purdue, Eastern Mich., Wisky, ND, OSU--- I guess thw cold weather schools aren't so slow after all? 18 of 43 players= 41%. Beyond these 18 there are 5 from the Pacific NW--- making more than half of the players listed from cold-weather locations. Not too shaby.

Sorry, BN27. Rocket did not win the Heisman. He finished 2nd to Ty Detmer in 1990. God knows the Domers don't need any help blowing smoke.
