Buckeyes back in the polls?

I think the pollsters are trying to make some of these teams look "pretty" because of the bowl game they are going to. Best example is Pitt. Pitt going to a BCS bowl game is a travesty.

Pollsters also need to make Va Tech and Miami look good so that whoever wins will be "pretty" for their BCS bowl game.

It's all about the money. The "prettier" the teams, the more money companies pay for commercials. Frito Lay can't be real happy about the Fiesta Bowl this year.

We are ranked...after where we were in the middle of last month...this is quite amazing. Time for a bowl win and a top 20 finish. Looking back, that would really be nice. We are a lot better now than we were in October. I feel sorry for whoever has to play us. I don't see us losing our bowl game to a team like Tech, Okie State, A&M, or Colorado. Let's get that 3rd straight bowl win and tie the team record for Bowl wins in consecutive season!

With all the teams that lost in the mid teens on up... and to only have us at #25??? Again, the poll makes no sense.

That and imo Auburn is better than Oklahoma... why do they insist on keeping the sooners at #2... Auburn played a much tougher schedule (outside of Texas Oklahoma hasn't really played any other really good team)... The SEC is better than the Big Twelve this year...

Well, I'm surprised. Not that the Bucks are #25, but that they're ranked. I honestly thought the media wouldn't give two shits, regardless of how many teams lost. So, should I be insulted that we're only #25, or grateful that the media bullshitters chose to rank us at all?

It really didn't help us that Northwestern lost to Hawaii. Hopefully, Michigan State beats them this weekend.

Hopefully, we blow out Texas Tech (if that's who we get in the Alamo), make a real statement and end up inside the top 20. That would pretty much ensure a top ten ranking next year. As we all know, the lower you start, the harder the battle for number one and I guess that's what concerns me about the AP poll now.

It's rather interesting to look at the computer rankings, across the most prominent ones anyway. We average out at about 25. http://www.mratings.com/cf/compare.htm

And therein, FKA877, lies the spark of truth!

We started out at #13 in 2002 after a 7-5 year in which we beat Michigan and lost our bowl game. If we win our bowl game to finish at 8-4 with our win over Michigan being more impressive than our one in 2001, then I'd say our chances at being in our near the top 10 are pretty good. And we've seen that we can indeed win the national title despite starting the season outside the top 10.

Very true, unless you have a season like this one. Had Auburn started the year ranked above OU, they would be going to the orange bowl. USC lost before lsu, and thereby ended up #1 in the AP as a result. Starting low definately hurts you in passing media hyped teams with a similar record.
